Back To The Beginning Of Ming To Do Charity CH 100 Dormant

It was so quiet there was not a sound to be heard. Hong Xiu was sitting next to the bed. She lived in a very small room and shared a big bed with six other palace maids. There was no separate closet and no separate dressing table. This was perhaps Hong Xiu’s most hard-pressed living conditions in her nearly twenty years of life; since she began seeing clients she only enjoyed the best resources of the brothel, becoming the top courtesan.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

For Hong Xiu, her destiny was already decided. The best future she had imagined was to catch a man at her best age. This man might be a rich merchant or a young master, and he would redeem her from the brothel. She would then move from a larger cage to a smaller one.

She would be favored, and then fall out of favor. Her background meant that she could not become the lawful wife of anyone, married with all the rites and trappings of an official wife.

Or maybe she would not be redeemed. When she got old, she would become an old lady that would clean and sweep the floors in the brothel, her back bent over as she wiped the steps and the ground. No one would know that she was a graceful beauty when she was younger.

She had thought a lot, but never had she thought she would sit in such a place, and never had she thought that her past experience would become capital she now relied on.

“An Xiu, don’t keep sitting, come and go to bed.” The maid squinted her eyes while lying on the bed and called to her, “We have to get up early for work tomorrow.”

Hong Xiu climbed onto the bed and covered herself with the quilt, pulling it up to her nose. The maids whispered quietly about the day.

“I can’t sleep, the supervisor punished me to kneel in the afternoon, and my knee still hurts.”

The little palace maids were the daughters of minor officials. They had not enjoyed the luxurious life of nobles and those in power. The only difference they had from the daughters of the common people was that they didn’t have to go hungry. But they still had to do work as minor officials’ salary plus money from bribery was not enough for the family to really enjoy any luxuries.

“The supervisor is so fierce…..”

“They are hiding the empress!”

The senior palace maids were in charge of everything around the empress and they acted as her eyes and ears. They suppress the little palace maids underneath, just because they were afraid that if they climbed up the ranks, they themselves would have to come down. After all, the positions around the empress were limited.

But in the naive imagination of the little palace maids, the empress was being hidden by the senior palace maids.

Hong Xiu listened quietly, without saying a word.

“The empress has a good temper. I heard that she doesn’t punish people with a board beating even when they make a mistake.”

“The empress doesn’t beat us, but if the supervisors want to beat us, it still hurts even when it’s hitting our palms with a stick.”

“I heard that if the palm is hit twenty times it will be swollen, and if it is fifty times it will be crippled.”

“We can’t make mistakes. A beating is a small thing but the embarrassment is a big thing. My family is still waiting for me to come out of the palace!”

Although they would be much older when they finally left the palace, girls who had been in the palace received better marriage prospects.

It was a proud thing to be able to enter the palace.

“I heard that Consort Li is the most favored, and the emperor goes to her every day.”

“Consort Li looks beautiful! They all say Consort Li is more beautiful than Noble Consort Yang!”

“Would the emperor love her if she was not beautiful?”

“Go to bed, we have work tomorrow, don’t wake up the supervisor.”

The little palace maids stopped talking. Some closed their eyes to sleep, and some kept their eyes open. When meeting the equally open eyes of a fellow little sister next to them, they would bury their heads in the quilt and giggle.

The sun was shining on the earth, and this temporary small imperial palace city awakened from the dark night. The eunuchs and the palace maids moved about in hurried steps. The spring morning cold had yet to disperse so they walked in the imperial palace city wearing cotton-padded clothes. Hong Xiu followed the other maids with her head bowed as they walked forward. Their eyes always looked in front of them. On the road, no one knew what was ahead, who was ahead.

“An Xiu, you come with me.” The leading palace maid called over Hong Xiu.

Hong Xiu walked up to her in a practiced manner in accordance with etiquette. Hong Xiu had her head lowered, her eyes confused and uneasy, just like every young nervous girl.

The palace maid smiled at Hong Xiu: “I see that you are honest and well-behaved. It happens that there was an older sister who left the palace and the Empress’s palace is missing a tea-serving palace maid.”

Hong Xiu’s eyes brightened, and she looked very happy. She said carefully: “I bought rouge for Sister Zhang.”

The palace maid’s surname was Zhang, and she pretended to cough: “I was not aiming for this benefit, I just looked at your obedience and decided to give you a chance.”

Hong Xiu nodded repeatedly: “I know, I know, it’s sister who is thinking of me.”

She had given the palace maid Zhang a lot of benefits, and almost all the gold she brought into the palace was given to her. Only then did she manage to reach this point.

If palace maid Zhang did not fulfill her promise, then she would be in a more difficult position in the palace. At that time, she could only send a letter to An Laosi and the others to come up with a new method, as the original plan failed and she could only become one of the informants they had in the palace.

The palace maid Zhang took the small box of rouge that Hong Xiu handed over, pursed her lips and smiled: “If you gain the favor of the empress in the future, don’t forget me.”

Hong Xiu: “I will take sister’s good words to heart, if one day I’ve done well for myself, I will not forget sister’s great kindness.”

“Let’s go.” The palace maid led the way and told Hong Xiu, “You have to be more cautious after going to the empress’s palace. You are smart so I don’t need to mention anything else, just remember one sentence. You don’t have to worry about others except for Lady Zhao. Be careful, she has the most face next to the empress. It won’t be much of a problem if you offend others. But if you offend her, you won’t even know how you died.”

Hong Xiu asked in a low voice, “Is Lady Zhao very fierce?”

The palace maid Zhang led her through the small door. No one passed by here and it was considered a blind spot. She looked around and made sure that no one was passing by before pulling Hong Xiu over and saying, “Lady Zhao has been serving the empress for a long time.”

“Before the empress entered the palace, she was already the most favored person around the empress.” The palace maid Zhang said, “She doesn’t love money, so don’t think of giving her gifts. Lady Zhao likes honest people.”

Hong Xiu understood, and smiled sweetly, “Thank you, sister.”

The palace maid Zhang smiled and said: “If you do well, I will be better too, won’t I?”

Those who did well in the palace and managed to be seen by the master, might actually even be able to come back to the palace to serve as senior palace ladies even if they had already married and had children. If one was lucky and the master had a child, one could even come back to be a nanny, which was practically the same as reaching the sky in one step.

So long as one could be remembered by the master, everything else was empty and superficial.

There was not much that the tea-serving maid could do, it was just brewing tea for the empress. If the maids next to the empress had the intention, then one would not even have the chance to bring the tea to the empress.

But even so, those who were vying for this position fight fiercely for it.

“Lady Zhao, this is An Xiu.” The palace maid Zhang brought Hong Xiu to Lady Zhao, as all the palace maids in the empress’s palace had to go through her.

Lady Zhao was in her thirties. She had a stern face and a stiff manner from her older age. Her lips were thin and made her look a little bit mean. Her back was slightly stooped, the result of years of bending over. No matter how much face she had in front of the empress, and how much power she held in her hand, she was just a servant who couldn’t straighten up when facing her master.

Lady Zhao just took a look at Hong Xiu, and said mildly: “Be honest and obedient, do what you should do, and don’t think about what you shouldn’t.”

Hong Xiu lowered her head, and she could only see her skirt: “Yes, thank you Lady for your teaching.”

Lady Zhao: “It’s not to that extent. Follow me.”

Hong Xiu had learned some tea skills before and her tea art was very good. As a courtesan from a brothel she must be proficient in music, chess, calligraphy and painting.

Being a high grade prostitute in ancient times was also a kind of technical job.

“Not bad.” Lady Zhao drank a sip of tea, and finally made such a comment, “The craftsmanship is passable.”

Hong Xiu showed an appropriately measured expression of excitement.

Lady Zhao glanced at her sideways, and Hong Xiu shrank her neck and tucked in her chin.

Lady Zhao: “Such unsteadiness, how is that seemly? This is the empress’s palace, the place of example for the women of the world!”

Hong Xiu lowered her head: “Yes.”

Lady Zhao looked away: “You are a servant of the empress, and you must be loyal to the empress. If I learn that you have been communicating information to the outside, I will let you know that while you may have come in here vertically you will be going out horizontally.”

After Lady Zhao finished making her warnings, Hong Xiu was led away by other palace maids.

Although it was the palace of the empress, it was actually not all that big. After all, Anfeng was only a county and it could not be compared with most cities, nor could it be compared with the real imperial palace city. It was just that everyone pretended that this was the imperial palace city. After pretending for a long time, this palace also seemed to have become more magnificent.

Hong Xiu looked at all this calmly, but in her heart she was full of contempt.

The women here took pride in being the empress’s maids, and they tied their own personal honor and disgrace to one person.

If this person tells them to live they will live, and if it is to die then they will die.

How similar was it to herself once upon a time?

She once also placed everything about herself on men.

But then she discovered that her life must be in her own hands if she wanted to live happily.

Just like with her standing here now, not because she wanted to bring honor to the family, nor because she was forced to be helpless. She had chosen all this by herself.

So she could face all the advantages and disadvantages that came of this choice.

These women couldn’t.

If the empress fell from grace, their lives would also be over, and they wouldn’t even know what they did wrong.

Hong Xiu stood in the tea room with countless tea leaves behind her. The room was filled with a strong tea fragrance. Her wrists were very thin and white. She was wearing a palace dress and her hair was pinned up in the most ordinary hairstyle. She had no expression on her face and the surrounding maids also all did their own things. No one made a sound, as if they were standing in a mausoleum instead.

The empress’s palace sounded honorable on the surface, but what was so honorable if only the empress was present in the palace?

It was only honorable wherever the emperor was.

People outside all say that the empress was kind and benevolent, but no one had ever thought deeper. If the empress was really that kind and benevolent, why was Consort Li still not pregnant despite having the emperor’s favor every night? The emperor was young and strong and virile and yet there was no prince or princess being born in the palace. Consort Li was also at a ripe age with imperial physicians at her call and the most favor from the emperor. It was natural for the coupling of man and woman to result in children.

The corners of Hong Xiu’ lips were curved in a smile.

She was not afraid of the empress’s cruelty and greed, but she was afraid that the empress really had no wants and desires.

A person who had no wants and desires was the most terrifying person.

If this person didn’t want anything at all.

Then how could others seek what they want from her?

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

The more fierce she was, the more likely it was that Hong Xiu would climb up the ranks.

Hong Xiu took a deep breath.

It was not a day’s cold that could freeze three feet deep of ice. She must continue to lay dormant, and take things slowly and gradually.

The Cruel Tyrant CH 086 Model

A huge explosion sounded from the back mountain of Qingye Villa. No one except the core personnel developing the explosives knew how these huge noises were made, but under such extremely strict regulations and discipline, no one asked.

Su Mu frowned when looking at the two new pits that the explosives left behind on the messy ground. Liu Xi, however, could not help but step back with a look of fear. The deafening sounds just now had caused his ears to go numb. And when seeing a huge boulder being blown up, Liu Xi could not help but think with lingering fear that facing such a powerful force, even those with strong martial arts would not be able to escape unscathed.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

Liu Xi pointed to the big hole that was blown up and asked, “Your Highness, what kind of weapon is this? It’s simply too amazing!”

“Explosives.” Su Mu said. When the smoke dissipated, Su Mu lifted his feet and walked forward only to be immediately stopped by Liu Xi behind him: “Your Highness, it’s too dangerous.”

Su Mu held Liu Xi’s hand and pulled him along to walk forward, “It’s alright.” Su Mu walked around the big pit and sighed slightly: “The power is still too small.”

A middle-aged man who followed him said: “Your Highness, this is the most powerful formula that this official and the others have tested hundreds of times.”

Su Mu nodded and turned to the wrinkled middle-aged man and said: “You all have worked hard, but the Qing Kingdom is at war against the Jin Kingdom. Our soldiers are bleeding and sacrificing their lives so we need such weapons. I hope you all can successively complete and mass produce the explosives as soon as possible.”

After walking out the door, Liu Xi, who was originally feeling surprised, immediately became excited. If such a powerful weapon could be mass-produced, what fear did the Qing Kingdom have? As long as Qing was not besieged by Shi, Wu and Wei at the same time, all other obstacles would be destroyed without exception! But the Crown Prince did not appear all that satisfied. Recalling the words “the power is still too small” spoken by the Crown Prince, Liu Xi suppressed the excitement in his heart and asked carefully: “Your Highness, with such a weapon, the Jin Kingdom will definitely not be our opponent, you don’t need to be too worried.”

Standing in the open space, Su Mu looked at the cloudless sky and sighed: “In this world there is a force that is far more powerful than the Jin Kingdom or the three kingdoms Shi, Wu and Wei.”

A power stronger than Shi, Wu and Wei, Liu Xi couldn’t think of any power that could be stronger than these three kingdoms even after racking his brains.

Su Mu looked at Liu Xi who was thinking hard and said: “Don’t think about it, maybe we won’t even be able to see it in this life. The construction of the three academies has been completed?”

Liu Xi said seriously: “Yes, Your Highness.”

Su Mu nodded and said: “Leave the rest to Lin Siyuan, you have another task which is to find this world’s mathematics and science talents, en……” Seeing Liu Xi’s puzzled expression, Su Mu immediately clarified: “I mean people who are particularly impressive in calculating numbers as well as artisans who can design complex equipment.”

Only then did Liu Xi understand, and he immediately responded: “Your Highness, please rest assured that this official will do my best.”

After pondering for a while, Su Mu added: “And also those people who are particularly good at war strategy. Of course, this cannot be forced and if you can’t find any then put this aside for now.”

“Yes.” Liu Xi responded.

In fact, Su Mu lacked too many kinds of talents, but he understood his own capabilities and limits. Putting aside whether the Qing Kingdom could even be able to support so many people. If he reached his hand into other countries to dig too many people, he would definitely be targeted. Fortunately, at this time, many of the countries did not value mathematicians and artisans too much, and if he were to recruit these people, it would not be too eye-catching.

Looking at the Crown Prince immersed in his own world, his whole person seeming to be shining with charisma, Liu Xi’s heart began to beat fiercely. He quietly approached the Crown Prince and took in the alluring scent from the other’s body, and said in a husky voice: “Your Highness…..”

However, he was interrupted by Qian Guan who rushed in before his voice even fell. Qian Guan’s face was flushed red with excitement and was also gasping in an out of breath manner, forgetting to even salute. He was as ecstatic as if he had stumbled upon a mountain of gold, his words incoherent with excitement: “Your Highness, Your Highness…..”

“Moved…..it moved…..”

Liu Xi, who was interrupted, looked very unhappy. Who knew how long it would be when he would be able to come back from carrying out this new task from the Crown Prince. But there was no expression on the Crown Prince’s face, and it was not good to express his anger.

After Qian Guan finally gained some calmness, Su Mu asked, “What happened?”

“Steam engine…..the steam engine…..” Qian Guan answered excitedly. After Su Mu gave them a simple drawing of the steam engine and told them the various benefits of it, such as automatic water pumping, spinning and weaving, and vehicles without horses. He, who was standing in front of Su Mu at that time, was completely dazed. A formless and intangible vapor could drive a vehicle into motion? But after Su Mu explained to them some simple principles and the impact it would have on society, the enthusiasm of these people were completely incited. To the point that after seeing the progress made on explosives, this group of people’s enthusiasm directly transformed to fanaticism. Because the people who participated in the development of explosives were directly awarded a gold medal by the Crown Prince.

This gold medal was no ordinary medal. It represented certain special privileges including being key protected people of the Crown Prince’s royal guards. So long as they did not commit any crime no official of the imperial court could do anything against them. Even when having an audience with the Crown Prince, they would be exempt from all courtesy. And finally they were also given priority when asking for things they needed, of course, it must be a reasonable and legal request.

In short, this gold medal represented too great of a temptation for them who were just ordinary commoners in the past.

On this side, Su Mu’s eyes lit up when he heard that the steam engine moved. No one in this world better understood what a steam engine meant than him.

Su Mu followed Qian Guan closely, which instantly increased the pressure on this old man who was over half a century old. If not for Su Mu not knowing the specific location, he would have disappeared already using qinggong. Liu Xi, who followed behind, saw that the Crown Prince looked so excited that his eyes appeared to be lit alight and followed curiously. The Crown Prince was not even this excited when he saw the explosives exploding!

When the three rushed into a room full of steam and vapor, Su Mu saw a simple steam engine model four to five meters long and one meter high. Su Mu was no expert, and he only gave these master artisans a simple drawing. As for how big the thing on the drawing had to be made, what parts were needed, and the sizes that various parts should be. It was all decided by these masters after countless trial and error.

When this big guy finally moved for the first time, these people almost cried with joy. A master artisan hurriedly reported the matter to the Villa Manager Qian Guan, who then hurried to tell Su Mu.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

Su Mu circled around this thing that was letting off a huge amount of heat. Speaking of which, it was actually the first time he saw a real steam engine. The parts and joints were especially imperfect, obviously, master blacksmiths had hammered out each part manually. Whether these parts were qualified or not was also what Su Mu was worried about. For example, it was difficult for the naked eye to see whether an iron pipe was straight and uniform all over. And if the quality did not meet standards, accidents were prone to occur.

The Cruel Tyrant CH 085 Gunpowder

Su Mu frowned while holding the letter sent by Yun Feiyu and Hu Yuan. It wasn’t that the two of them encountered any trouble when they went to Wu and Yang to form an alliance, but that it went too smoothly.

The appearance of Princess Hongyun raised Su Mu’s vigilance. Shi Qingshuang provoked war between the Jin Kingdom and the Qing Kingdom, but he had a feeling that this also had something to do with Princess Hongyun as well. Su Mu was dedicated to the development and growth of the Qing Kingdom, while the Wu Kingdom had intentions to conquer and unify the world. If the Qing Kingdom became stronger, it would cause great trouble to the Wu Kingdom. The more chaotic this place full of unrest was, the more beneficial it would be to the Wu Kingdom. By then, the national power of these small countries would be exhausted by war against each other. And when the Wu Kingdom attacked at that time, would they not get twice the result with half the effort? Don’t blame Su Mu for having conspiracy theories, this was how this world was, if you didn’t want to be eaten you must eat others first. Su Mu would do the same if he was the ruler of the Wu Kingdom.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

Su Mu put down the letter in his hand. Wu and Yang had agreed to jointly send troops to attack Jin. If there was no exception, even if Jin was not destroyed, it would be divided by the other countries in the end. But Su Mu kept feeling that it would not be that simple. Sun Hongyun was by no means an ordinary woman. She even dared to kill Shi Ran, so what else would she dare to do? Su Mu looked at Gu Yunzhou next to him and asked, “Why did you accept nine cities as a reward for killing Shi Ran?”

The Lingxiao Pavilion was a force belonging to jianghu, was he planning to establish a country of assassins?

The tall muscular body wrapped in black clothes gave people a great visual impact, causing the little palace maids who served Su Mu to secretly blush. Gu Yunzhou looked at Su Mu with dark eyes and said: “The nine cities are for Lingxiao Pavilion’s spies that had been placed in various countries to settle their homes in.”

When Su Mu heard this a feeling of guilt suddenly arose in his heart. It was indeed not a good life fighting and killing in the jianghu all day long. Su Mu felt a little sad and his tone couldn’t help gentling: “Then now that you gave Shi Ran to me, what about them?”

Gu Yunzhou said: “The Lingxiao Pavilion has been in existence for more than a hundred years, and there are many hidden spies that have been inserted in various countries. They face capture and suppression of those in power at all times. Now that war is about to start between Shi, Wu, and Wei, Lingyun Pavilion cannot ensure the safety of everyone no matter how powerful we are. We can only find a place of safety for them, but the people of jianghu are not good at governance. It is also a move out of helplessness to ask for nine cities, and it is uncertain whether their safety will truly be guaranteed.”

Su Mu looked at him and said, “So you mean…..”

Gu Yunzhou looked at him earnestly and said, “You are an excellent monarch. I hope you can let them join the Qing Kingdom.”

“How many people do you have?” Su Mu asked.

Gu Yunzhou said: “A total of 30,000, plus their family and relatives, the total is about 80,000. Most of these people have skills and will be useful to you.”

Su Mu nodded and said: “If they join the Qing Kingdom, will they be scattered or concentrated.” Su Mu had to consider this. If these seventy to eighty thousand were directly concentrated in one place, it would definitely be difficult to manage. After all, the people of jianghu were always so unruly and difficult to manage.

“These people didn’t live together in the first place, and they could be scattered throughout the Qing Kingdom as family units. If you need them, they can also collect information for you.” Gu Yunzhou said.

Su Mu nodded: “I will allocate some farm fields for them, but since they have joined the Qing Kingdom, they can no longer engage in their original profession within the Qing Kingdom. If they don’t want to become ordinary people, they can also join the imperial court or continue to follow you. “

Gu Yunzhou nodded and agreed. He had long wanted to get rid of this burden as his lifelong pursuit was the summit of martial arts. The people at the bottom ranks of Lingyun Pavilion wede not much different from refugees. Although they had some skills, they were mostly at the bottom of society with no speaking power at all. Moreover, Lingyun Pavilion was just an organization and no matter how powerful it was it could not hold up against a powerful country.

After the two talked, Gu Yunzhou disappeared from the room, intending to go back and convene his subordinates to discuss settling those people. Su Mu threatened Shi Ran to write a few letters back to the Shi Kingdom to have a large amount of grain be sent to the Qing Kingdom.

In fact, Shi Ran had no choice but to do so. In this place of chaos and unrest there must be a shield that could prevent the invasion of Wu Kingdom.

At noon, when Su Mu was having his meal, Liu Xi’s voice came from outside the door: “Paying respects to Your Highness.”

Su Mu put down his chopsticks and said, “Come in.”

Only then did Liu Xi lift the curtains and walk in. Since the Crown Prince taught them a good lesson after the incident of slipping medicine in his tea last time, he had yet to see the Crown Prince again. Only thinking that the Crown Prince’s anger had cooled, did he dare to show up this time. Of course he had already had a good excuse prepared, “Your Highness, the three imperial academies will be completed in half a month.”

“And?” Su Mu looked sideways at him.

“This official wanted to ask what else Your Highness has in mind.” His eyes were filled with affection as he stared fixedly at Su Mu, his tone soft and seductive: “Your Highness, I…..”

Su Mu hurriedly interrupted him lest he said anything sappy again: “The Zheng family didn’t come to make trouble again?”

“They have, but were stopped by this official.” Liu Xi’s eyes were almost glued to Su Mu’s body. Seeing Su Mu’s rosy lips, he wanted nothing more than to pounce forward and chew on it. He suggested: “Your Highness, would you like this official to accompany you over to take a look, it can also be a relaxing walk.”

In any case, having been tired for so long, Su Mu decided to accept his proposal. However, he took Liu Xi to another place, the villa on the outskirts of the imperial capital that produced toilet paper and soap. Speaking of this, Su Mu was really speechless. The efficiency of production was so low that it could only be sold to foreign aristocrats as luxury goods. But Su Mu’s purpose this time was not some child’s play like soap and toilet paper. What he wanted to check in on were the two tasks he had later assigned to those people, steam and explosives.

Su Mu was no expert on these two things, but he knew their general direction of development. There was no progress on the steam engine yet, but the gunpowder was already showing signs of success. After all, fireworks already exist in this world. Seeing that the world was going to be thrown into total upheaval soon, Su Mu’s most urgent concern was the production of explosives.

Su Mu stepped down from the carriage in plain clothes, but the heavily armed guards of the Qingye Villa stopped Su Mu: “Paying respects to Your Highness.” The tone and attitude were very respectful but they still made no concessions.

Liu Xi, who was next to Su Mu, was about to get angry but was stopped by Su Mu. He took out a sign and gave it to the guards guarding the door, who then immediately let him through.

Such a strict system of security was actually due to all the martial arts TV dramas Su Mu watched in his previous life. He was rather afraid that there would be techniques of disguise in this world. After all, things like martial arts and qinggong existed in this world so why not face-changing skills.

Qian Guan, the person in charge of the villa, hurriedly came to see Su Mu just after he stepped inside: “Paying respects to Your Highness.”

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

“Manager Qian does not need to be so courteous.” Su Mu asked: “How is the development of the explosives?”

Qian Guan said nervously: “Answering Your Highness, it is still unstable and easy to explode and hurt people.”

Su Mu said: “Take me to the test site.”

Qian Guan hesitated and said: “Your Highness, it is too dangerous.”

The Cruel Tyrant CH 084 Gu Insect

However, as soon as Gu Yunzhou’s voice fell, a pleasant sounding female voice came from the woods: “Using nine cities to win the love of one’s sweetheart.”

Princess Hongyun slowly walked out in a red dress, a light veil covering her face. She looked at Su Mu with a pair of beautiful smiling eyes: “Your Highness has good fortune.”

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

“Princess Hongyun?” Su Mu asked in slight surprise. Back then, after Princess Hongyun said that she wanted to leave the imperial capital of Wu Kingdom with the army, Su Mu had not heard news of her since. Only to unexpectedly see her here. Recalling that many years ago, Shi Ran had abandoned Princess Hongyun and returned to Shi Kingdom, Su Mu instantly thought of who had put out a bounty for Shi Ran’s head.

Princess Hongyun smiled and said: “Hongyun pays greetings to the Crown Prince.”

Su Mu glanced at Shi Ran next to him and then said to Princess Hongyun, “It turns out that it’s the Princess who wants to kill him.”

Princess Hongyun inclined her head and said: “I bought Shi Ran’s life with nine cities half a year ago, but I did not expect Gu Yunzhou to give him to you.” Princess Hongyun’s eyes were smiling: “It is nine cities after all. This is probably the most rich betrothal gift in the world.”

Su Mu blushed a little, and changed the subject with slight embarrassment: “Princess Hongyun, you wouldn’t have bought Shi Ran’s life with the cities of Wu Kingdom, would you?” Nine cities. Just how much hatred did she have for him.

Princess Hongyun glanced at Shi Ran, her eyes flashing with a cold light: “Of course not, I just gained control of the Jin Kingdom’s monarch. If Your Highness hand Shi Ran to me or kill him for me, the nine cities I have under my control will immediately open their city gates to welcome the arrival of Your Highness.”

This temptation was too great, but Su Mu had to refuse. He shook his head and said: “Sorry, I can’t give you Shi Ran.”

Back then, Shi Ran not only used Princess Hongyun to escape back to the Shi Kingdom, but also took advantage of the natural disasters of the Wu Kingdom to annex a large area of land belonging to the Wu Kingdom, so it was not an exaggeration to say Princess Hongyun hated him down to the bones. Moreover, with Shi Ran’s death, the Wu Kingdom would not only have one less strong enemy, the vast fertile lands in the south would all surely be in the bag for the Wu Kingdom. But at that time the Qing Kingdom would definitely not escape the fate of being conquered by the Wu Kingdom, so Shi Ran could not die just yet.

Princess Hongyun was an intelligent person and knew Su Mu’s concerns. She also knew that even a high martial arts master like Shi Ran could instantly lose against Su Mu and Gu Yunzhou so even if she had more numbers she was still not their opponent. Tilting her head and looking at the smiling Shi Ran, she said coldly: “It doesn’t matter if you can’t kill him, I only ask Your Highness if I can teach him a little lesson, after all, he was the one who betrayed me back then.”

Su Mu raised his eyebrows with an amused expression on his face and said: “As long as he is not crippled or dead, please feel free to go ahead, Princess.” After all, he wanted to use Shi Ran as a bargaining chip and not attract hatred.

“Thank you, Your Highness.” Princess Hongyun walked towards Shi Ran with graceful steps and an elegant posture. Her face was covered, revealing only a pair of clear and bright eyes that looked at Shi Ran with slightly complicated emotions and said: “It’s been a long time. You have indeed become an excellent monarch, just like you said you would back then.”

Shi Ran looked at her with icy eyes and a solemn expression. Princess Hongyun raised her jade-like hands and a black insect the size of a rice grain appeared on her white palm. Princess Hongyun’s voice was sweet and gentle: “I have prepared this for you for fifteen years, and now I can finally I give it to you personally.”

Su Mu looked at the black insect and felt goosebumps all over. He asked vigilantly: “What is that?”

Using a dagger to make a small cut on Shi Ran’s arm and stuffing the black insect in, Princess Hongyun’s movements were gentle and careful, as if she had not cut someone with a dagger and place a strange insect inside the wound, but rather like one who had just trimmed off some branches and leaves of a plant. Her voice was gentle as she answered Su Mu: “A kind of Gu insect that is extremely difficult to cultivate, and I only managed to cultivate one in fifteen years.”

The Gu quickly burrowed into Shi Ran’s flesh and blood. After some pain at the beginning, he couldn’t feel it at all and didn’t know where to look for it even if he wanted to. Princess Hongyun looked at Shi Ran with cold eyes and said: “This Gu feeds on flesh and blood. It does not eat much but can make you feel worse than death. If you are willing to give up the position of Shi Kingdom’s emepror, I will give you the antidote. Of course commiting suicide can also solve the problem.”

Seeing Princess Hongyun walk over with graceful steps, Su Mu felt a slight chill. Princess Hongyun looked at Su Mu and said: “Your Highness has already made friends with our country, so why not kill Shi Ran and get a share of the Shi Kingdom? Your Highness, there will be endless troubles after letting the tiger go back to the mountain.”

Su Mu smiled and said, “Much thanks to the Princess for the advice.”

Seeing that Su Mu didn’t want to talk any more, Princess Hongyun said tactfully: “Then I won’t disturb Your Highness.”

Seeing the last figure disappearing into the woods, Su Mu asked Shi Ran behind him: “Has Your Majesty finished considering?”

Shi Ran, who hadn’t spoken since the appearance of Princess Hongyun, finally spoke: “If you release me, a million deniers of grain and a thousand taels of gold will be delivered to you before the beginning of winter.”

Su Mu turned around to face him and shook his head slowly, saying, “Ten million deniers of grain and one hundred thousand taels of gold. Not even one less grain or one less tael. Ben Gong does not believe that your Shi Kingdom can’t even afford this amount.”

Shi Ran stared at Su Mu calmly and said: “If Zhen dies then Shi Kingdom will perish. Likewise, the Qing Kingdom will also be destroyed. Five million deniers of grain and ten thousand taels of gold. It can’t be any more.”

Su Mu half-smiled, and said in a very firm tone: “Ten million deniers of grain and one hundred thousand taels of gold, otherwise Ben Gong will sell you to the brothel.”

Shi Ran’s face twitched, and he looked fixedly at Su Mu for a while before he gave in, “Give Zhen all the farming technology you gave the Wu Kingdom.”

Su Mu nodded and said: “Fine.” The Wu Kingdom was too strong, and that was not a good thing for the Qing Kingdom.

After instructing Shi Yan to watch Shi Ran carefully, Su Mu dismissed everyone and stood with Gu Yunzhou beside the picturesque lake. Gu Yunzhou gifted him nine cities worth ten thousand deniers of grain and a hundred thousand taels of gold. Su Mu, who was quite broke right now, really couldn’t think of how to thank him. Maybe give him that hundred thousand taels of gold? Although it was a bit painful, it was not good to take too much advantage of others. But, but, but that was a hundred thousand taels of gold after all!

How about he pay the debt with his body instead? Su Mu pondered secretly, and instantly the image of Gu Yunzhou’s strong and powerful body appeared in his mind, and a layer of red blush stained his cheeks.

Standing on the shore and looking at the lake, Su Mu, who was calm on the outside but conflicted on the inside, and Gu Yunzhou, who seemed to be like a stone statue, looked very much like a painting from a distance. However, if one was to look at a closer distance, a strangeness could be felt in every part of the picture.

The two stood together like two trees for more than an hour. Su Mu, who felt a little bored, coughed uncomfortably: “It’s getting late, let’s go back to have dinner together.”

Of course, the focus was not on eating at all. As night fell, and the candlelight swayed, Su Mu clung tightly to the sheets under him, his face flushed and his legs spread open to welcome the fierce and tremble inducing thrusts.

“Gu Yunzhou…..” Su Mu’s eyes were misted over as he called the other’s name, but instead of getting an answer for a response, a harder collision followed.

Some News & Updates

Two things to announce on the agenda^^

1) Membership tiers for Ko-fi are here! I will now be uploading locked posts for members! Higher tiers can access posts for lower tiers. Old monthly subscribers can choose to remain unchanged or officially join a membership tier. I have 3 tiers set up for now and they line up with how many advanced chapters can be accessed at that tier ie: Tier 1 = 1 advanced chapter for Cruel Tyrant, Bird Dude, Back To Ming, and Vicious Cannon Fodder, Tier 2 = 2 advanced chapters for CT, BD, BtM, and VCF, Tier 3 = 3 advanced chapters for CT, BD, BtM, and VCF. As you may have noticed, I will now only be doing advanced chapters for these 4 novels instead of all 6 novels. Supporter posts will now only include 1 early access chapter for a random 2 novels.

2) On Discord, I have uploaded several untranslated BL recs with their summaries translated by me. As Bird Dude is nearly finished being translated, I am now thinking whether to add more public updates to my current TL projects OR hold a vote for the novel that you guys want me to take up translating in its place. For those of you who would rather I add more public updates to my existing TL projects, leave a comment on this post. For those who are interested in the second option, please go to my Discord and place a thumbs up emoji on the novel you have chosen. You guys have until Bird Dude’s last chapter is uploaded (which is in a little over two months, at the end of October, or sooner😉) to make your decision! I will then listen to the majority!^^

Sect Leader Is Under Great Pressure CH 030 Birth And Death, Righteousness And Evil

As one of the main peaks, Qingdi Peak has always been crowded with traffic.

However, Qingnu’s ability to part the masses was simply too moving. Wherever she passed, there was not even a single spirit demon, let alone a human.

But the one who carried Qingnu was a huge firebird, which had a completely different countenance from the haughty expressions of the group of firebirds when facing Ye Han. This firebird was so humble and subservient it was practically kneeling over.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

The elites who were flying with him were all Nascent Soul cultivators, and any one of them was even more skilled than his teachers in the outer sect. So the usage of this firebird was just them giving him face.

So when they stepped on the back of the firebird while chatting and laughing together, Feng Qingxiu did not say that he had also reached the Golden Core Formation Stage. Although he really wanted to fly by himself after having leveled up…

They soon landed on the top of Qingdi Peak. Feng Qingxiu quite liked the courtyard style of Qingnu’s residence very much, and the tower where Qingnu worked was also very beautiful.

The tower was strangely silent, and the people who came in and went out did not dare to make any loud noises at all.

“If there are too many courtyards I would have to run back and forth, and that would be too troublesome. With a high tower that has a dozen stories, it saves time and facilitates observation. Moreover, with much better care for the patients, it would be more difficult for patients to escape.” Qingnu explained to Feng Qingxiu, as they entered the tower.

“Escape?” Feng Qingxiu felt a little uneasy.

“Uh-huh.” Yimeng Qingnu nodded casually and then stopped as a young man in blue striped clothing came over and handed over a note.

Qingnu glanced over it and said to Feng Qingxiu: “Junior Brother, wait for me just a sec.”

Feng Qingxiu nodded, and then saw Qingnu push a door open.

A loud heartrending wail instantly bursted from the opening of the door, and the desperation in it could almost lift the roof off. Feng Qingxiu felt that the sound wave even blew back the hanging beads on his hair crown.

There was actually such a miserable person in this world…

Then he heard Qingnu say calmly: “Quiet, don’t scare my guests.”

The screams behind the door diminished in an instant, and the smell of blood also dissipated. Feng Qingxiu immediately imagined the patient clenching his teeth and grasping the sheets, and he couldn’t help but feel his heart skip a beat.

Then the gentle and melodic voice of Senior Sister Qingnu sounded: “I have repaired the internal injury in your dantian, and also, this golden core of yours is not that good looking in shape or color. I will help you reshape a new one with the Transforming Core Liquid, which is more in line with your spiritual roots. Also, your dantian is too small, I will help you to enlarge it. Remember to write a post-experience report to me later, indicating the daily pain relief and usage. In addition, remember to pay the dantian operation fee. I will send you the bill later, and you can choose to pay it in total or in installments. Taking in account your help in my experiment, installment will only have 0.05% interest. Is there any question?”

“Ahh—no—arghhh—” The patient struggled to give a response.

“Very well, don’t act as if you’re dying, it’s just a simple golden core operation. I have done operations on hundreds of Nascent Souls, and many of them were pulled down by me when attempting to fly away. Take a good rest.” Qingnu said calmly before she walked out, closed the door, and shut in the screaming.

Feng Qingxiu felt that he might have been a little impulsive, but he still nodded at his senior sister.

The several senior brothers and sisters around him all had calm expressions, having already gotten used to this kind of scene, as they all comforted him.

“Did you get scared, Xiao Qing.” Huang Wei smoothed her yellow dress, pursed her lips and smiled, “Qingnu is just like this. She is the director of the war doctor vein in Qingdi Peak, and both our side and the enemy side are afraid to be treated in her medical tent.”

“Yeah,” You Jia nodded, “Once when I also went on the battlefield, I heard someone from the enemy side say, ‘There seems to be a lonely stronghold here. Why not attack here?’, only to be immediately slapped by a fellow spirit demon who said, ‘Are you looking for death? That is the Green Witch’s territory. Do you know how terrible she is? We spirit demons are not even enough for her to dissect for an hour!'”

“Not only that, once my junior brother was hurt too seriously, and I wanted to send him to be treated, but the closest nearby medical tent was Qingnu’s,” Huang Wei sighed, “but my junior brother held desperately onto my thigh and said ‘No , I don’t want to go to Qingnu! I can still fight, I can still go on the battlefield!’, so Senior Brother Feng, let’s make a retreat. Seriously.”

“A few days ago, there was a snake spirit demon with a broken tail. To his misfortune, he was tricked into the top floor by Senior Sister Qingnu under the guise of ‘free treatment’. I wonder if he is even still alive…” The black-clothed boy looked at his senior sister in disapproval.

“You guys, shut up!” Yimeng Qingnu glanced sharply at them, and then looked towards Feng Qingxiu with gentle eyes, “Let’s go, Junior Brother, let’s go to the top floor, where there is the best dining place in Kun-Lai.”

“How can meals served before heading to the gallows not be good?” A passing disciple muttered.

Qingnu was completely unaffected, and just made a gesture of invitation and had him step into a circular ward on the ground.

Feng Qingxiu smiled naturally and stepped into it.

The white light flashed, and they were teleported to the matching circular ward on the top floor.

“The Space Jumping Ward, it’s a pity that the limit is only two hundred meters. They are working hard to increase the distance of teleportation.” Qingnu appeared behind him, her pretty and gentle eyes colored with a sharpness that people could not ignore, “Junior Brother is truly bold. Come, the main dish has been served.”

***

Zhaoyue Peak.

Ji Yunlai chuckled slightly, this group of young ones really knew how to find trouble for Xiao Qing.

After testing his ability to respond to contingencies they then gauged his daring. If Xiao Qing did not respond well enough, they would likely attack seriously.

Only…

He thought of the born demonic shadow mentioned in the previous interrogation.

He couldn’t help but touch the red tips of his hair.

He then looked at the extremely faint trace of obsession in the corner again. It was still there, its gaze having never looked away.

He now almost understood why he lost his memory.

If the celestial demons were an infinite virus, and the Calamity Sword was a bug that could not be cleared, then he likely chose to simply restore the system without trying to clear the bug.

After the restoration, the files after the restoration date were of course cleared, but the upgraded hardware (cultivation base) would not change.

If he insisted on recovering it, he might indeed be able to retrieve some files (memory), but it was also possible to restore the bug again.

There was also a peerless Great Celestial Demon who built a firewall on him with its blood.

…His former self really knew how to play around it seemed.

A white camellia bloomed on his palm, shining brightly.

The petals scattered, floating and rotating in the void, forming a talisman seal.

There was something gradually coming into existence in the center of the seal.

During these days, he had thoroughly understood all the seals left by his predecessor and started to construct a new mathematical equation of his own.

It was just that the power was still a lot lacking, and it needed to be more optimized.

But anyone who was an engineer would know that optimization was basically the phase of a program that took the most time and resources.

For example, the games Sword3 and Warcraft had the same structure, but the former had no funds to do advanced optimization. Therefore, the former would put more strain on the device with the same configuration. Sword6 also had the same problem. The consequence of not being optimized was that even the titan graphics card would fail accordingly. Thus, the problem in unreasonable programming lies here.

To make an analogy, there are two ways to get a 7. The algorithm others used was multiplication, 1*7=7, which was completely straightforward and effective, whereas your algorithm was 1+1+1+1+1+1+1=7. Which was more economical and time saving could be seen at a glance.

In the same cultivation method, you invoked the use of three meridians at the same time to release spiritual energy while the other used one meridian at a time to accumulate the spiritual energy to be utilized. It was clear at a glance who would land the first shot.

Many cultivation methods had this problem, including the original “Supreme Emptiness Immovable True Sutra” which was extremely resource consuming. So after the optimization done by his previous self, it did not need that many resources at all. This was the reason why he was now optimizing the program. Otherwise, his new skill could not result in maximum output using the least cost.

Ai, time…

In addition, some kind of auxiliary system should have been developed by his previous self, otherwise it was impossible for him to calculate so many optimizations.

So he should be able to do the same.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

If it was possible to calculate three different equations at once, it would save a lot of time…

Ji Yunlai had an eager urge to try, the same rejuvenating feeling he got when leading a group of subordinates to tackle a key programming problem… but he suppressed it.

Yeah, restraint, he should finish calculating this skill first.
