After Becoming The Tyrant CH 015 The Carriage From Hell

The sky was dark and gloomy.

The rain fell on the dark ground, and when it splashed upwards, the water droplets reflected a dark red light, as if the cold rainwater falling from the sky had suddenly turned into flames instead.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

The shroud-wrapped skeletons lay dismembered everywhere. The beasts of the night wandering ladies crouched on the ground in a tame manner, their heads falling down and rolling on the ground a small distance away, blood gurgling out of their cavities——getting blood all over the ground, though ordinary people might not see it. The blood coalesced in sticky puddles that could not even be washed away by the rainstorm. It only spread over a larger swath of ground in irregular shapes.

As for the giant man who wielded a hammer……

Alas, the entire process was too short and too decisive. If you were willing to pick up the soil and examine it carefully, perhaps you could find a bit of bone residue?

This level of cruelty was rare even in the world of darkness.

The half-human and half-bird Madam Pomfeller flapped her wings to escape the terrible dark rain, but just as she flapped her wings and flew up, an elegant voice rang out in her ears.

“Madam, won’t you accompany them?”

The gentle wind blew pass Madam Pomfeller’s cheek and in the next instant, her head separated from her neck and fell down from high up in midair.

The last remaining black robed monk trembled and looked at the Devil standing in the dark. He had already forgotten that he had betrayed his faith a long time ago and drew a cross on his chest: “Impossible, you……you are……”

“Shh.”

The Devil put his pale and slender index finger up to his lips and returned to his former smiling self. The black clothed monk felt as if he would rather be tried by the people of the Holy Inquisition than to see him confirm his words.

“Be cautious, Mr. Monk. It’s not time to say that name yet.”

The black robed monk let out a moan before turning into ashes.

“Apologies, time is limited so I must ask you all to surrender to eternal sleep in the ground.”

The Devil bowed in the manner of a gentleman to the wreckage left in his wake.

A trace of scarlet floated down from mid-air like a falling feather.

“Ah.”

The Devil raised his head. His mood suddenly turned bad again.

“These damn fellows, they almost ruined my rose!”

He pinned the red rose over his chest once again. Perhaps when he had just sent Madam Pomfeller on the road a petal had accidentally fallen off. The Devil stretched out his pale hand and caught that rose petal falling down from the sky.

The petal was scarlet in color, as if it had been soaked in blood.

The Devil gently pinched the petal and placed it on his tongue. In the next instant, the rose petal turned into real blood in his mouth……this was the drop of blood that had dripped down from His Majesty’s fingertip at that time. That drop of blood had now manifested into the rose inserted in the Devil’s clothing. The Devil sighed.

He snapped his fingers.

A black fire ignited silently in the rain, burning up all of the dead bodies until no trace was left.

The Devil turned around and looked in the direction where the King had left in.

He truly did love such stormy nights.

This was the perfect time for the staging of all the bloody, all the viciousness, all the betrayal and death.

“Now.” He said lightly, “My dear Majesty, please let me pick up your beautiful soul.”

Since he was going to pick up his dear Majesty, then naturally there must be a show of extravagance worthy of his noble status. This had the Devil feeling a little bit troubled……He had never paid much attention to these things. He had obtained too many things with shameless means, but he had not used them much after gaining possession. After thinking for a moment, the Devil clapped his hands.

A lake of sulfur and fire opened up on the ground.

The rainwater fell into the boiling lake of fire, and instantly a white cloud of steam rose up into the air. The lake of fire roiled and magma splashed onto the surrounding land. The land that had been touched by the magma soon scorched black……something was slowly rising from within the lake of fire.

It was a carriage.

A low neighing sounded and the nightmare horses pulling the carriage appeared shrouded in gray mist. After the nightmare horses stepped out of the lake of fire, the lake filled with sulfur gradually shrank.

In the end, there was only a carriage left on the ground. A horse-drawn carriage that only the most insane mental patient could imagine up.

An awe-inspiring spinal column of an unknown beast made up the four-corner pillars and backbone of the carriage. Exquisite bat-like bone wings formed the magnificent carriage walls in a fantastical style. The slender skeletons of snakes coiled along the windows, mysterious blue flames lit in the holes of the snake skulls, appearing like miniature blue roses. A huge skull was inlaid in the middle of each of the four wheels of the carriage, tears of bright lava flowing down from their hollow eye sockets. Combined with the fact that the skulls were clearly smiling, it was a bizarre image indeed.

This bone carriage was odd and terrifying, but revealed an evil sense of beauty at the same time.

The nightmare horses neighed lowly, as if accusing the Devil of forgetting them for too long.

The Devil was usually indolent most of the time, and it had been hundreds of years since he last summoned this bone carriage.

“We are to greet the most noble Majesty. Mind your manners, little fellas.”

The Devil protested.

The Devil examined the carriage for a while, walking around it in inspection. He stretched out his hand to brush over the hideous and beautiful white bones and instantly leafless rose vines winded and entangled through the white bones. On the thorns, scarlet roses bloomed.

The Devil was finally satisfied with the carriage.

He drove the white-bone carriage into the heavily raining night.

The skull heads turned together with the wheels, and the crying sulfur dripped down the skull’s eye sockets to leave droplets behind, a meandering trail in the dark that then gradually dissipated.

The nightmare horses pulled the bone carriage through the swamp where a battle had just occurred.

One after another, the souls in black armor rose from the swamp. The white skeletons on the wheels opened their jaws, and those souls were sucked in by them just like smoke. When there were no more souls to swallow, the skulls’ upper jaw clacked against its lower jaw, making a terrifying sound.

As if in a show of joy, or dissatisfaction.

“Alright, alright.”

The Devil comforted briskly.

“The prelude will begin, and you will have more food.”

The owls screeched.

………………

The wind stopped, but the heavy rain continued, as if it would never stop.

The King and his vow knights traveled in the rain.

Despite the successful lure of the Gulundi heavy cavalry into the swamp, the King still paid a hefty price——there were only six loyal vow knights left. Except for the King, everyone else had some injuries.

The small group looked to be in terrible state.

This heavy rain at the end of September came at an untimely manner, it was as cold as snow but even more fierce than a snowstorm.

The heavy rain poured over the body. Even with armor, it would still flow down from the cracks, making people feel that they were actually immersed in ice water. During the battle, the fierce level of motion could have them temporarily forget about the cold. But when the battle was over, the cold became more and more terrible, especially under exhaustion.

The vow knights were so cold their lips turned blue, let alone the King who didn’t even have on any armor.

The King’s silver hair became wet from the rain and stuck against his face. His face was terribly pale, but his lips were abnormally red, almost a coquettish red.

The King pressed his lips tightly and said nothing more.

The vow knights all thought he was angry at tonight’s assassination, but only he himself knew what was going on……he had to grip the reins tightly and rely on the help of the stirrups, else he would fall over from the horse’s back. The rain was very cold, and he felt both cold and hot. His damn headache ached as if something was drilling into his skull.

If they don’t find a warm place to rest as soon as possible, he and his vow knights would probably not end well.

In this era, disease was an even more terrifying enemy than the Gulundi heavy cavalry. Being caught out in the cold rain and then coming down with a high fever, it could easily kill people.

A young vow knight acted as a scout, riding slightly ahead. But on such a rainy night, he couldn’t be too far away from the King and the others. The only use of even scouting was to pray for God’s blessing.

The Holy Lord above, they could no longer withstand a second wave of attacks.

Suddenly, the vow knight saw a warm flame in the distance.

He startled, pulling at the reins and swinging up his sword.

However, the young vow knight soon relaxed a little.

Because of the heavy rain, the light of the torch flickered and did not appear too big, only outlining the shadows vaguely. A lone knight was riding a horse in the rain, his hair appearing very conspicuous in the light of the fire.

The vow knight recognized him.

It was the owner of Truu City, Baron Sheehan with the brilliant blond hair.

The vow knight cautiously drove forward, the sword still maintained in a vigilant stance: “For the glory of the Rose?”

“For the glory of the Rose.”

The blond Baron Sheehan replied, bowing slightly on top of his horse, appearing both courteous and meticulous.

“The heavy rain came suddenly, and I was worried that His Majesty and the ministers might have suffered any misfortune, so I came to meet you all.”

The vow knight breathed a sigh of relief.

The negotiating delegation obeyed His Majesty’s orders and went directly to Sern, and from there they set off for the palace. It was normal for Truu Castle not to know what happened just now. And so long as it was a nobleman who had any brain and desire to climb up the social ladder, he would go out of the city to show his loyalty to the King when he saw such a heavy rain tonight.

“That’s good.”

Said the vow knight. He was hit by a heavy cavalryman on his shoulder, and the wound was deep enough to show bone and even pieces of the armor was embedded in the flesh. By now he could only just hold on.

“His Majesty is ahead.”

The vow knight put down his sword without sending a warning signal. He panted tiredly.

The blond baron straightened up and showed a faint smile.

Heavy rain continued to fall.

Baron Sheehan remembered the day when the King arrived, the most beautiful rose cultivated in the most luxurious and dreamy palace court……the rose that brought death and corruption to Legrand.

He smiled, the rose would eventually wither and only Legrand would last forever.

The vow knight turned around and saw the King and other knights appearing in his field of vision. He smiled joyfully and waved to the King and the others.

The King raised his eyes, and his face changed in the next moment.

“Dodge!”

He shouted.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

At the same time the vow knight waved his hand, Baron Sheehan also raised his own hand high and slashed it down.

More than a dozen longbowmen jumped up from the dead grass.

After Becoming The Tyrant CH 014 Victory And——

The long spear slashed down with a cold light, the momentum was shocking and terrifying.

The leader of the Gulundi cavalry used this maneuver to kill countless enemies on the battlefield.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

Faced with a war horse with heavy armor in mid-air and a giant steel warrior on horseback, no one could remain unfrightened. Those who could manage to lift up their shields in response would be regarded as a warrior. Even so, the sturdiest shield would be smashed by this thrust, and the owner of the shield would not escape his end either.

However, today this maneuver failed.

The moment the iron spear slashed downwards, the young King he faced turned over on the stirrup, and almost instantly dropped to the other side of the horse.

There was only a millimetre difference between the iron spear and the King’s cheek. It swept past through his silver hair only to land on the other side of the horse, slashing at the air.

At this time, the King could without question match the world’s most outstanding horseback dancer. The spear had just thrust past the saddle but he had already flipped over to sit firmly on the horse’s back again. With a pull of the reins he charged forward directly.

The thrust of the iron spear made in a determination to win failed. The cavalry leader and his horse landed back on the ground.

At that moment, the heavy cavalry leader saw an icy smile flash across the King’s pale face.

The smile contained a malevolence that even terrified this descendant of the sea barbarians.

The next moment, the King had approached the leader of the Gulundi cavalry.

The leader of the Gulundi cavalry finally understood why the other still pushed the carriage down the slope despite knowing it would not block them.

——His motive was to interrupt their charging momentum.

The King made a big gamble. He needed to win time for a close combat fight for himself and his knights.

In order to cause the greatest damage when charging, the Gulundi heavy cavalry, whether it was man or horse, all wore heavy armor. Where the heavily armed Gulundi cavalry stood, deep marks would be left on the ground. The terrifying lethality of these heavy cavalry was made in exchange for agility and mobility.

Out of self-confidence, and in order to humiliate the Legrand cavalry who they did not hold in any regard, the Gulundi heavy cavalry erroneously interrupted the charge and chose to smash the horse-drawn carriages with dazzling skills like their leader.

This gap in time was so short, but their enemy managed to grab onto it.

Legrand’s vow knights wore silver iron armor. Compared with the heavy cavalry of Gulundi, those chain armors were as thin as paper. Although they couldn’t hold up against a charge from the heavy cavalry, they possessed the agility that the Gulundi cavalry did not.

Among them, the quickest one was the King of Legrand.

Because he didn’t wear armor at all.

The King was the only one who fought in luxurious and embroidered clothes.

——Before this, everyone had thought that it was just a negotiation. No one had expected that the King would be forced to be like his father and set foot on the battlefield himself.

But this had precisely become the King’s advantage.

He was as light as the wind.

The King danced with his war horse.

He galloped around the Gulundi heavy cavalry, like a whirlwind of silver and scarlet that blew past the black armor. In the whirlwind, the King swung his sword from the back of his horse.

To do this, owner and horse must achieve an extremely high degree of cooperation, otherwise the owner would be thrown off by the horse if the timing was wrong, and then trampled to death by his own horse.

Moonlight suddenly jumped up from the darkness.

It was really strange. At this time, the sky was dim and the rain was torrential. Where did the moonlight come from?

There was indeed no moonlight, but the light from the sword that the King slashed out with.

The King’s sword had a wave-like ice pattern on its blade, made from the forging steel technology unique to the North. It was a sinister and cold sword, as sharp as its owner. With just a glance, one would feel as if their cornea was about to be cut but the sword. The King used it to force the cavalry leader’s iron spear to a stop, moving towards the fatal and weak link of his armor so that the terrifying and hideous weapon had no room for deployment.

He must churn up the whirlwind of a powerful army.

Once the wind stopped and the leader’s spear threw off his sword’s force on it, his heavy war horse charging forward, then the one to die would be him.

In the past, it was not that no one proposed to use light cavalry and assassination techniques to deal with the heavy cavalry.

But until now, the Gulundi heavy cavalry remained the shadow of death on the grassland.

This was because even if the light cavalry could approach the Gulundi heavy cavalry safely, it would still be to no avail.

Not only did it require the light cavalry to have advanced fighting skills, but it also required them to have a mindset that nearly bordered on madness!

One had to overcome the fear of being smashed to pieces by the heavy cavalry before using a steady hand to quickly wield those precise sword thrusts.

This was truly a literal dance with death on the edge of a knife.

The leader of the heavy cavalry of Gulundi encountered the most sinister, the most cunning opponent in his life.

His opponent was a gorgeous but icy crescent moon. But this crescent moon did not hang high up in the sky but gleamed on the scythe belonging to the death god. This was the crescent moon used to harvest souls. The crescent moon seemed to be covered with spider silk, spider silk that was laced with poison.

The heavy rain was still falling.

In the wind and rain, the Gulundi heavy cavalry was like a black iron tower caught in a whirlpool.

The King’s vow knights, holding a shield in one hand and a sword in the other, danced around the Gulundi cavalry. They forgot their fear, they forgot the might of the Gulundi cavalry, and they even forgot the knights’ code on always using frontal charge.

To hell with the knights’ code. They were the King’s vow knights.

Their criterion was only the King himself.

Tonight, at this moment.

They were fighting a bloody battle side by side with their King.

This idea boosted the morale of these vow knights. They all abandoned the unnecessary knights’ code. Like their King, they tangled with the heavy cavalry of Gulundi, forcing them to be unable to employ their usual fierce charging force.

They lacked any spirit of a chivalric knight who only fought head-on. They were no different from unscrupulous assassins, but even more insane and terrifying.

The invincible Gulundi heavy cavalry fought the most frustrating and vexing battle in their lives.

One of them flew into a vicious rage, disregarding everything and completely abandoning the use of direct stabbing. He held the iron spear by the middle of its body and brandished the spear like a sledgehammer, slamming it towards the heads of the mad silver cavalry, desperate to crack his enemy’s head and see the blood flow.

And his enemy, the vow knight, roared, disregarding a possible heavy hit from the iron spear to jump up from his horse and pounce on the black war horse of the heavy cavalry. At the same time the heavy cavalryman’s iron spear fell on him, he also thrusted his sword into the soft throat under the enemy’s helmet.

The heavy cavalryman rolled with the vow knight and fell from the horse.

At this moment, silver and black intertwined together, like two gears grinding against each other. Scarlet blood spurted out from the collision of the gears. The scarlet blood was soon washed away by the dark cold rain.

The lives of people and horses were crushed in the collision of black and silver metals.

Either die! Or live!

For the first time, there was actually a knight who was even crazier than the reckless Gulundi.

The black and silver gears made up of human life and horse life kept turning, and gradually left the grassy slope to stop at the low ground below. Everything seemed as if there was nothing worth paying attention to.

However, when they arrived somewhere at the foot of the slope, the King suddenly brandished his sword.

His opponent was startled by the sudden change of sword light.

The King had already pulled on the reins, owner and horse leaping out of the battle circle.

“Go!”

The King shouted towards his knights.

He gave an order, and the vow knights did not hesitate to follow, also leaving the battle circle. When the King’s horse landed, he pulled the horse’s head and rushed towards the flat ground in front of them.

The vow knights followed suit.

The red-eyed heavy cavalry roared and chased after them like a whirlwind.

This time, they were finally able to reorganize their formation, reverting once again to a terrifying straight line of offense, launching a fierce and savage charge.

This time, there were no more carriages and no underestimation of the enemy.

The silver vow knights followed the King in the scarlet cloak, like a gust of wind sweeping lightly and hurriedly across the flat grass.

The black heavy cavalry followed.

When they set foot on the flat grass, soon all the Gulundi cavalry realized that something was wrong.

They had just charged a short distance when the war horses began to neigh in terror. Immediately, they plunged into the quagmire together, both men and horses.

They all shouted in horror.

The heavy cavalry of Gulundi struggled to get out of the mud. But the armors on their bodies were connected to the war horses by special iron buckles, and there was no way to break free at this time. They could only sink helplessly with their war horses.

A strange thing it was that on the same piece of land, nothing happened to the King and his knights when they passed through while the heavy cavalry sank downwards.

The heavy cavalry had already bypassed the large wetland before, and the subsequent battle did not go towards the wetland.

But——

There was more than one wetland here.

The main trunk of the Doma River flowed turbulently not far from here, and its two tributaries were distributed in this lowland. The river water flooded the grassland day after day, forming large or small swamps. In the winter, the water level of the main trunk of the Doma River would drop, the tributaries would gradually dry up, and many small wetlands would shrink or even disappear.

There were also some that were not big or small, but due to the severe cold they would form into frozen lands that appeared like any other lands.

But it was only September now.

The terrifying winter had yet to arrive, and those small wetlands had not been completely frozen.

The King memorized the distribution of all the swamps here, but the heavy cavalry of Gulundi only knew of the largest wetland.

The King and his knights were able to pass through the frozen upper wetland unharmed, but the Gulundi heavy cavalry, due to being heavily armored, could only sink into the mud.

The sound of horseshoes clicking.

The King and his vow knights had turned their horses back.

The King pulled on the reins and looked down at the enemy who was lured into the mire by him.

The leader of the Gulundi cavalry was at the forefront of the charge and was the closest to the King at this time. He saw the King holding the long sword diagonally, the cold light flowing like the light from the moon.

The leader realized something.

The King drove his horse forward.

In the dark, the sword swept down, the curve of the sword light like that of a crescent moon.

Blood spattered from the throat of the heavy cavalry leader, and he fell back into the mud.

The mud quickly swallowed him.

The hot blood splashed onto the corner of the King’s eyes. It flowed down along his pale and cold face, leaving in its place a vicious and sinister scarlet trail. The King watched coldly as his enemies were swallowed by the silent swamp.

The King pulled his horse by the reins. The heavy rain continued to fall on him.

The scarlet cloak appeared an even deeper red in the rain, so deep that it seemed to emanate a thick, bloody smell.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

He said to the surrounding vow knights that were left:

“We leave.”

The icy cold, the boiling hot, the mad insanity……

The first drop of blood had fallen, dyeing the King’s robe red.

After Becoming The Tyrant CH 013 The King’s First Battle

The Gulundi heavy cavalry, descendants of the sea barbarians, were shadows wandering on this earth.

They often appear as mercenaries on the fringes of battlefields among various countries.

The effect of the arrow attacks had been lost and their whereabouts had been exposed, so the Gulundi heavy cavalry no longer hid themselves.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

The heavy cavalry re-hooked the large bows on their backs. They carried a heavy and frightening iron spear in one hand and did not rush to charge. Between them and the negotiating team was a small wetland. They dispersed and circled around the edge of the wetland.

They drew closer without any hurry, and they stood apart from each other enough to use their spears without stabbing their companions in the heat of battle by accident. It was also to put psychological pressure on their prey.

Of course they didn’t need to rush to launch an offense.

Ordinary war horses simply could not match the war horses of Gulundi. In front of the Gulundi heavy cavalry fleeing would only lead to one’s end even more quickly. But fighting was also tantamount to throwing one’s life on the end of their black iron spears.

“Oh God……”

Someone in the negotiating team wailed desperately. They had got out of the carriage only to slump onto the ground after hearing this bad news.

Someone held the silver cross in trembling hands and began to pray for God’s blessing.

But today was the death of Saint Val, and today God did not plan to forgive the mortals.

“Your Majesty! Please leave!”

With a wave of the knight commander, the iron-clad vow knights surrounded the King. They used steel shields to erect a seemingly indestructible wall——but in fact, everyone knew how futile this defense was.

“We will delay them! Please leave immediately! Your Majesty!”

“Leave? Leave to where?!”

The King sneered.

He refered to the Moon River Fortress behind him.

“Leave to beg Legrand’s enemies?”

The knight commander lowered his head and said nothing, but his expression had already revealed his intentions:

He hoped that he could buy time for the King so that the King could return to the Moon River Fortress. Bressi and Legrand had just signed a treaty, and so long as they entered the Moon River Fortress, the King would be safe.

——Even if it was to be a prisoner of Bressi, it was still better than being trampled by the Gulundi heavy cavalry!

Almost everyone thought this way.

Everyone present was silent, using silence to express their tacit agreement.

The King was furious.

“The Rose family has never had a captured King before, and there will never be any in the future, let alone now!” The King took the reins, his sword pointed at Moore the knight in the crowd, “Come here!”

Moore walked quickly forward.

The King threw the treaty to Moore, his face still shrouded in appalling anger: “Take this, and bring it to the Duke of Buckingham.”

“Follow your orders!”

Moore caught the heavy peace treaty, and felt as if something got stuck in his throat.

“You all, go from there, bypass this place and make your way down the branch river. Don’t go to Truu, go directly to Sern! Now, take these fools and get the hell out!”

The King looked condescendingly down at the officials who rolled down from the carriage and climbed on their horses in a clumsy fashion.

No one knew when the King learned the topography of the surrounding towns and roads this clearly.

Only Moore and the other two knights startled with realization.

At the request of the King, they had described the topography in detail in that report. But it was too lengthy and complex. Out of hostility and indignation, they did not bother to organize all the dizzyingly details and information……No one thought that the King would really read them all and remember everything clearly.

“Your Majesty!”

The Master of the Households shoved out of the crowd and knelt on the ground heavily.

“Give me your cloak! Please let me take your place and stay behind! Your Majesty!”

“Why?” The King smiled, and his eyes cut across the pale face of the Master of the Households. “Do you think you are more noble than Legrand’s monarch?!”

The Master of the Households looked in grief at the young King who he had taken care of for more than ten years.

“Take him with you.”

The King no longer looked at the Master of the Households. He ordered Moore and the other two knights. He stood upright, his scarlet cloak flapping in the wind, looking like a raging sea of blood. His pale blue eyes were even colder than ice.

Moore pulled the kneeling Master of the Households on his horse.

“Leave!”

The King ordered.

He turned his horse’s head and stood side by side with his vow knights, without looking back at the people who were about to flee.

“For the glory of the Rose!”

Moore shouted out this motto and led the charge towards survival.

The King and his vow knights stood like a city wall on the grass slope crest. Under his order, his courtiers abandoned the carriage and detoured from the other side of the grassy slope, heading for another distant town. Along the tributary of the Doma, they would travel to Sern, and from there they could return to the palace by another road.

The flickering torch had already become sporadic.

The three knights charged on their horses, and when they looked back, they only saw the King amidst his iron clad guards. He stood cold and proud, completely motionless. And opposite him was the heavy cavalry who had dispersed into a line, and they too stood still. This grassy slope and wetland had become a stage and battlefield.

The negotiating team passed by the edge of the stage.

The Master of the Households still had some hope of being able to disperse the enemy’s focus from the King. But those terrible heavy cavalry didn’t even give them a glance.

The King, his oath cavalry, and the Gulundi heavy cavalry.

They were the protagonists of this stage, and the rest were simply irrelevant.

The Master of the Households vaguely saw the King’s scarlet cloak blowing in the wind. At that moment his young monarch seemed to have come from hell.

The figure of William III overlapped with the King.

The Master of the Households finally realized one thing:

His allegiance was no longer to that of a spoiled child, but the son of a military genius, a descendant of the Rose family with the insanity that tinged the blood of the Rose running through his veins. This generation’s monarch of the Legrand Empire.

His Majesty was——

Born to be King.

…………

The lion chasing elk would not care about a group of scattered rabbits.

As expected by the King, the heavy cavalry of Gulundi did not stop and go after those who escaped. The attention of the heavy cavalry was all on the most noble prey that they had ever hunted before.

The heavy cavalry had already bypassed the wetland. They raised their spears high and began to roar like wild beasts.

The wildness of the sea barbarians boiled under their armor.

They were a group of beasts, a group of ferocious beasts in steel. They enjoyed killing, they relished the despair of their prey before they died. They loved to use the bloodiest means to slaughter their enemies.

The black cavalry line began to advance and when their roaring momentum gathered and reached the apex, they would initiate a charge.

Often, before that, their enemies would have already been scared to death just by their ferocious aura alone.

But there were exceptions tonight.

As if a cold iron mask had covered the King’s face, he stood solemnly in the cold wind.

His head hurt more and more, as if thousands of knives were carving at the insides, knives that were laced in fire. Everyone wanted him to die, everybody wanted him to go to hell. Those past memories of gritted teeth and a desperate struggle to survive whizzed by. Whoever wanted him to die……he will bring death to every one of them!

“Come.”

The knight commander heard his voice. A voice that was laced through with malevolence and rage.

“Aren’t you going to kill me?”

“Come on then!”

The rainstorm poured down like an overwhelming curtain, as if to perform a tune that was appropriately thrilling and hair-raising for this first battle of the night.

With the low and muffled thunder sounds and the pattering of rain that washed the world as their backdrop, the Gulundi heavy cavalry merged into a straight line. The heavy rain washed over their black armor, splashing and running through the hideous bony spurs coming out of the black metal. In the rain, the edges of their armor gleamed white.

Tonight——

The saint slept in the grave without waking up.

Death was like a shadow hovering over the crown of the monarch.

The rose on the armor was to be forever bathed in blood!

The long spears of the Gulundi heavy cavalry flashed silver.

The charge had begun.

………………

The horse hoofs were wrapped in heavy black iron and stepped heavily across the muddy grass.

The cavalry of Gulundi rushed across the battlefield and towards the slightly elevated grassy slope. Their eyes behind their iron helmet masks were harsh and ruthless, and the hideous bone spurs on their armor were clearly visible. Those bone spurs were not only a decoration to deter the enemy, but also a part of their bloodthirsty weapons.

With the King’s order, his knights pushed all the empty carriages side by side down the slope.

The carriage rolled in the rain and muddy water, smashing towards the enemies who were eager to rush upwards.

The Gulundi calvalry issued mocking shouts.

The terrible iron spears in their hands were brandished, smashing the empty carriages rolling towards them as if putting on a performance.

The empty carriages rolled into the heavy cavalry ranks, one after another. The carriages that could be regarded as fairly solid were like paper in front of the Gulundi calvalry. Immediately after the empty carriages were smashed by the iron spears, they were sent flying away by the Gulundi war horses that looked like monsters in heavy armor, landing broken and fallen apart in the mud.

The heavy horseshoes trampled over the wood and metal.

The King raised his sword high and cut downwards:

“For the glory of the Rose!”

“For the glory of the Rose!”

The knights roared.

The rain scoured the people on both sides heavily.

With the block and cover provided by the carriages, the King and his knights charged out.

The carriage belonging to the King was made of oak and plated with metal. It withstood the collision of the war horses and lay horizontal on the ground. It blocked the cavalry leader’s charge.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

The leader of the Gulundi heavy cavalry remained focused on the King in the scarlet cloak.

When the King charged down on his horse, the leader pulled on the reins, and both horse and man leaped directly over the oak carriage. In mid-air, he leaned forward, his spear piercing towards the King, bringing with it a sharp wind that sent chills down the spine.

After Becoming The Tyrant CH 012 Enemy Attack On A Devilish Night

The Devil stood still.

The sky suddenly darkened very quickly.

A moment ago, the dark red setting sun had bathed the world in blood, but now thick black clouds swept across everything in sight. The seal on the North Land was opened, and the cold slashed across the earth like a knife, sending sand and rocks flying, and sounding like the wailing of ghosts.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

The night in the Middle Ages belonged to the Devil, to the grotesque, and to all the scariest and darkest things one could imagine.

If there was any unlucky person wandering in the wilderness at this time, the howling of wild wolves mixed into the wailing of the wind was enough to scare him into liver failure. Not to mention the other hideous things that gradually appeared in the darkness.

The hooting of owls that sounded strangely mocking, came from far away. If one stretched his vision a little bit further, one would witness scenes that would make even the saints tremble——the graves in the wild opened one after another, and wrapped skeletal remains crawled out of them in staggering steps.

They came towards the place where the Devil was standing, like a group of wolves seduced by the smell of blood.

——To be precise, they were coming towards the direction where the King had left. The Devil just happened to stand on the line that they must pass when chasing after their prey.

“Ah.”

The Devil seemed to think of something.

“Today is the day when Saint Val died……the scene of her chest being pierced by bones seems to have happened just yesterday.”

If any priest heard him mention the ‘Death of Saint Val’ in such a casual tone, he would definitely be shocked and angered. In the war between darkness and light that swept through the world a thousand years ago, the Holy Lord’s favored one, the pure white Saint Val fell and her blood stained the silver holy emblem.

All the dark creatures rejoiced on the day of her death.

Since then, the believers mourned their saint sadly on September 23. And witches, werewolves, vampires……they would hold a grand gathering of dark crearures on the top of the hills. [1]

This was a long, long time ago, but when spoken from the Devil’s mouth, it was as if he had been personally present at the time, and even played an extraordinary role.

“It really is a good day.”

The Devil rejoiced, holding the scarlet rose in his hand, beaming as if he was about to attend a ball with his lover.

He was in such a good mood, so good that he even bestowed an amiable smile to the visitors behind: “Good evening everyone, welcome to this humble stage.”

Alas, even the most enthusiastic castle lord would not be more courteous than him when welcoming guests.

What could be called a “guest” by the Devil was not something that could step into the holy grounds of the church:

The night wandering ladies rode wild beasts, traveling a long way from deep in the darkness. They worshiped the moon goddess, the mistress of the night, Diana. The black robed monks followed behind a giant man, and to the left of the giant man was a knight of death holding a black flag. The half-human and half-bird Madame Pomfeller groomed her wings. There were faint shadows of werewolves traveling from the north……

Like the half-decayed corpses in the graves, these dark creatures with high intelligence tracked the trail by smelling the scent of the darkness.

Ordinary people, priests, astrologers……they couldn’t smell that scent, only the existences in the dark could smell it. It was a wonderful, sweet, bloody smell that was enough to drive them crazed.

It was certainly not the smell of ordinary people, or those damned priests. To the dark creatures, their blood had a scent equivalent to the stinky gutters on the roadside. But this bloody smell was so sweet that it reminded them of the beautiful era when darkness ruled the continent a thousand years ago.

It was like the most magnificent red rose.

The bloody scent only spread a little but during this special time today, many who caught the scent have already arrived from far away.

“It’s a pity that the time is not ripe, otherwise I would invited you to convey your greetings to my old friends.”

The Devil held the rose in his hand and bowed apologetically to the “guests” who gathered.

His “guests” were simply bewildered to the extreme.

They looked at each other. Most of the dark creatures near Truu City and Moon River Fortress knew each other. Then they looked at the strange Devil standing on the hill together, as if none of them recognized him.

The half-human and half-bird Madame Pomfeller examined the handsome and luxurious appearance of this Devil. Her nose and nails had already turned back to beak and claws. At this time, she groomed her feathers gracefully with her pointed beak and then asked in a shrill voice: “Where do you come from, strange Devil? I haven’t seen a Devil like you in a long time……goodness, your kind is really unlikable.”

The giant man who lead the black robed monks was much more concise.

He snarled coarsely: “Get out of the way Devil, don’t hinder us from hunting for souls. Get out of the way, Devil. I don’t care where you come from, either join us and tear up that rarest crimson soul or be torn to shreds by us……or could it be you want to enjoy the feast alone?”

The Devil stood upright on the hill, straightening up from his slight bow.

Faced with the giant man’s vigilance, the Devil paused for a moment, and then he let out a loud and unbridled laugh.

The laughter became louder and louder, each note permeated through with such a strong evil it felt almost tangible.

The giant man angrily took the huge hammer from his back which was covered with dripping blood.

The laughter of the Devil suddenly disappeared.

Still holding the red rose, anger had swept his eyes when just a second ago he had been bursting with laughter.

——On this point, the Devil’s mercurial nature was a match for His Majesty the King who signed a contract with him.

“I don’t have the habit of sharing my treasure with others. Maggots.”

He said coldly.

“His soul belongs to me alone.”

The Devil announced.

The heavy rain poured down without warning.

………………

Their King’s temper was worse than ever.

The people in the negotiating mission became aware of this.

The victory in the negotiations with Bressi did not make the King feel any happier. Ignoring the exhaustion of everyone, he ordered the convoy to rush back to the castle as soon as possible, before dark.

The negotiation site was located between the Moon River Fortress and Truu City, and it was indeed possible if they moved at full speed.

However, no one thought that the sky would darken so quickly.

The sky was still blood red a moment ago, but in the next moment it was stained with black, so dark that it could drip ink. Not only that, but there was a strong wind that froze one down to the bones, and everyone began shaking involuntarily. In this damn weather, even if they didn’t leave the camp, they would still meet with bad luck.

Any tent would be blown to the sky in the face of this strong wind.

Abnormal weather, thick darkness……all of this caused strong anxiety to grow in their hearts.

The Master of the Households lit a lamp for the King, and the armored knights lit torches. The wind was really too strong, although the torches were treated with special methods and as a result were not directly blown out, but the fire was so small that it was no better than matches.

The horses kicked their front hoofs frequently, and snorted through their noses one after another uncomfortably.

——It was as if a hole to hell had opened.

The Master of the Households couldn’t help but think so.

The King was sitting in the carriage. Although he was wearing a thick and warm cloak, his face was paler than anyone else. His head started to hurt, as if a knife was scraping the insides repeatedly……he didn’t know if this was a side effect of rebirth or an old problem he had originally.

The Master of the Households asked him what they should do next.

The King leaned his back on the cold metal carriage and answered calmly.

His pretense at normality was so perfect that no one could pick up anything unusual from him.

Under the King’s order, everyone pulled out their weapons and moved forward vigilantly. Although they didn’t know why the King was so wary, in this situation, there was nothing wrong with having more caution. May the Lord bless them who wander in the dark.

Tonight was the death of Saint Val. The Lord was angry and sad because of the fall of his beloved.

Tonight, He would not bless the mundane.

“Defense——”

The convoy climbed up a small hill with difficulty, and the experienced knight commander suddenly felt a chill rise from his spine. He didn’t have time to think about the reason, and immediately raised his shield.

His voice was ripped apart by the wind.

Amidst the noise of people and horses, the sound of sharp arrows breaking through the air was ear-piercing.

“Enemy attack!!!”

The knights shouted loudly. They gathered at the forefront of the convoy at the first sign and erected their hard shields, forming a defensive wall in an instant.

Dang——Dang——Dang——

Arrows hit the shield one by one, the iron arrows colliding with the iron shields and making a series of metallic sounds.

Everyone should thank the wind that had caused them so much difficulty earlier! They happened to be upwind, whereas the enemy had to pull their bows and shoot arrows against the wind. If it hadn’t been for the wind cutting the speed and strength of the iron arrows by more than 40%, they would definitely have suffered casualties at this time.

Who was it?

Shock and fright swept through everyone’s hearts.

Who was it? Who set up an ambush here? Who was so bold as to try and kill Legrand’s King?

The only one that had long been anticipating this was probably only the King himself.

Practically the instant when he heard the noise, the King immediately grabbed the sword and horse whip beside him and jumped out of the carriage. The Master of the Households paled with fright at his unexpected behavior. The King was not in the mood to pay attention to him. He grabbed his own horse, and mounted on the saddle.

“Your Majesty!”

The Master of the Households felt that he was going crazy.

The arrows stopped.

The enemy also discovered that their plan had failed. In such a strong wind, any arrow attack was just a joke. They stopped their futile action.

The King drove his horse past the convoy and went to his knights.

A flash of lightning tore open the black sky.

The world became illuminated at this moment, and all things revealed their true colors under the cold whiteness.

The King saw his enemy.

Under the hills, the withered grass was blown to press down on the ground by the wind. Across a wetland, a group of terrifying cavalry was lit up by the lightning.

He heard the voice of the Master of the Households trembling slightly behind him: “Gu……Gulundi Cavalry!”

In the pale light of the lightning, the heavy cavalry appeared like a dark cloud of shadows. They had on the most exquisite armor on both sides of the Abyss Strait. They were the most terrifying cavalry. They sat on powerful, tall horses that had on heavy armor as well. On their backs were bow and arrows and in their hands were chilling cavalry spears.

Their breastplates glowed brightly.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

They were descendants of the maritime barbarians who invaded the Western Continent in the 12th century before.

The world suddenly began to snow.

The King and his enemies stood facing each other across the distance.

After Becoming The Tyrant CH 011 Good Day, My Dear Majesty

——If I want to, my uncle will always take it back for me.

This sentence that came out of the King’s mouth stemmed from a matter of fact arrogance. But Bressi’s General could not really treat it as a random and willful remark.

People in this era often fight wars, between countries and between nobles.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

For dignity, for profit, for faith……But there were other reasons for the expedition of the Bressi Kingdom. They had an old feud with the Legrand Empire, and the war between the two countries had lasted for more than 100 years——historians call it the “Hundred Years War” for short. In the Hundred Years War, the Legrand Empire and the Kingdom of Bressi often took turns prevailing over each other.

Now was currently the dominant period of the Bressi Kingdom, and the expeditionary army came for just this.

No one knew the situation of the Bressi expeditionary army better than the General.

They faced a dilemma.

After they really occupied the Moon River Fortress, the Bressi people found out that this fortress was very embarrassing for them.

The terrain of Moon River Fortress was steep, destined to have no farming fields in the fortress. The main purpose of the Moon River Fortress was to be used as military defense and did not produce food on its own. For a long time, Moon River Fortress relied on the supplies from Truu City and the transportation of food from the Central Plain. If the Bressi Kingdom wanted to control it, they must bring food from oversea……

This cost would not be cheap.

They were able to capture it, but they could not occupy it for a long time.

The best way was to exchange it for higher benefits from the Legrand Empire.

But the wanton arrogance of the young King of Legrand at this time had become their biggest obstacle.

——Could they really continue to waste their time here?

No.

The General knew this well.

“So be it.”

The King got up, took over the draft of the treaty from his officials, flipped through it, and carelessly struck out the above clauses related to the royal family’s interests. Then he signed his name and threw the draft before the General.

“Either agree, or you just guard this pile of broken stones. This negotiation had taken so long that Cordona’s opera would have finished showing three times by now.”

Cordona’s opera was a traditional opera from the last century and used a lot of empty and useless parallelism, the plot protracted and endless. It was often used by people nowadays to mock a thing that wasted too much time on side details.

Legrand’s negotiating ministers all looked bleak and deep in despair. They all thought that this was the end, this time the negotiations would be ruined by the King.

But they had no way to stop the King……After all, the only thing that could make the treaty come into effect was the King’s signature.

There was silence in the tent.

The King stood up and had the Master of the Households to pack up his things. He was ready to return to the palace. At his command, the other officials could only follow the King out of the tent, all as pale as ghosts.

In just a few moments, the original noisy tent became silent, and only the blank-faced Bressi negotiators and the expressionless General were left on the other side of the long negotiating table.

You look at me and I look at you——at that moment the Bressi staff could not utter anything at all.

This……wasn’t it going fine just now? How come everyone had left in the blink of an eye?

At this moment, they could finally understand the pain in the hearts of the Legrand people felt over these years.

Serving such an unreasonable tyrant……no one could possibly maintain their smiles.

“General?”

Someone asked quietly.

The expeditionary General waved his hand to let the others go out first.

Only the General was left in the tent for negotiation. He couldn’t help but glare at the draft without any regard for etiquette and cursed: “That idiot Grice, why didn’t he send this bastard to hell sooner?”

After a long time, he finally grabbed a quill and angrily signed his name on the draft.

“Damn that scoundrel.”

He nearly punched a hole in the paper with the quill in his hand.

…………

The luggage was all sorted out, and the officials were practically dragging their feet in despair as they watched the tents being put away one by one.

Their King paid no mind to any of this.

Holding a whip made of braided gold and silver threads, he stroked his horse——it was said that this horse was the descendent of the King’s father, William III’s own personal horse. The King didn’t care much about it before, but for some reason suddenly began to show adoration towards it.

It was likely that even the Devil could not fully understand the inner workings of this young monarch.

Things were put into the oak carriage, and the Master of the Households reluctantly lifted the curtain for the King.

“——Please wait!”

A person ran over panting.

He was the adjutant of Bressi’s expeditionary General.

He paled with fright when he saw how close he was to having missed the King’s departure.

The King paused in the middle of entering the carriage. Turning his head slightly, icy blue eyes looked at the new arrival indifferently.

The adjutant did not dare to linger, and hurriedly took out the treaty signed with the names of both parties.

The King didn’t stretch out his hand to take it and with a careless sweep of his eyes, he had the Master of the Households take over the treaty.

The Master of the Households was flushed with excitement. He accepted the treaty from the adjutant and carefully spread it to the end. As expected, he saw the name of the General of Bressi on it——although that sharp handwriting revealed its master’s anger tenfold.

“Your Majesty!”

The voice of the Master of the Households trembled with excitement.

The despair was swept away, and joy hung over the negotiating team.

“We leave now, I’m fed up with this damn place.”

The King was his usual cold and standoffish self, having no intentions at all to celebrate this rare victory with them. Instead, he urged everyone to get a move on and return to his palace.

However, the treaty was successfully signed, and only a small price was paid. At this moment, when the people looked at the King’s waywardness it was no longer as distressing as it seemed in the past. Everyone happily boarded their carriages, leaving only the Bressian adjutant with a bitter face behind.

May the Lord protect him from suffering the anger that would surely be taken out on them.

…………

“General, what is your impression of that young King?”

After hesitating for a long time, the astrologer asked.

“A complete bastard, a damn scoundrel.”

The General answered without hesitation.

“Let him go to hell with his arrogance.”

“General, I think we better not let the King of Legrand leave here alive.”

The vortex curtain of blood and black appeared in front of the astrologer’s eyes again and he couldn’t help but advise.

“You don’t need to care too much about him.” The General seemed to be a little amused, “My dear astrologer, he’s just an overly arrogant and rude boy……he will soon pay the price.”

The astrologer wanted to say something more.

“Enough, my lord of the horoscopes, go and pack your luggage, we should also return.”

The General was not in the mood to listen anymore.

The astrologer had no choice but to leave.

Back in his tent, the astrologer spread out a piece of letter paper, pondered for a moment, and then wrote the letter with a quill dipped in special star ink. The letter was written to his mentor. In the letter, he described in detail what he saw when he observed the King of Legrand and asked his mentor what could the vision portend to.

“……The general does not take fate’s signs to heart. But teacher, I feel uneasy, whether it is the sun or the bloody vortex……please guide me.”

He stopped writing and checked his letter.

“It’s a pity, sir.”

The candle in the tent suddenly flickered, and the astrologer also seemed to notice something. He put his hand in his pocket to pull out the silver dagger inside. But in the end he failed.

A thick black mist surged up from the ground silently, filling this narrow space in an instant. The darkness swallowed everything. The astrologer went stiff, turning his head almost took all of his strength. The black mist approached him, and he saw a person slowly walking out of the darkness.

This kind of dark aura that lead directly to hell……the other was……

He lost consciousness.

“It seems that my dear Majesty has met with a tiny bit of trouble.”

The black mist continued flowing on the ground, and the Devil in an exquisite and gorgeous black formal attire walked to the astrologer’s table.

He gently pulled out the letter and held it in front of him.

“Darkness and scarlet……it’s so beautiful, my Majesty.”

He spoke the words on a sigh.

A black fire ignited on his pale and cold fingertips, and the letter was turned into ashes in an instant, falling and disappearing into the black mist.

The Devil lowered his hand, his fingertips resting on the astrologer’s forehead.

“Spying on other’s most beloved treasure is not the behavior of a ethical character, Mr. Astrologer.”

The memory was drawn from the astrologer’s forehead in the form of a pale white liquid. The Devil put it in a fine crystal ball and then pressed it against his forehead.

He saw the King under the noon sun.

Rose flowers bloomed on the King’s crimson coat, and his ice-blue eyes were filled with thoughts that no one could understand. And with the help of the astrologer’s eyes, he finally saw the thing closest to the King’s inner workings……the destiny that portended the future. In the pitch black curtain of darkness there swirled countless scarlet vortexes.

In truth, only those scarlet vortexes represented the real destiny of the King.

Whereas the black curtain announced that he had signed a contract with the Devil, his soul now belonged to hell.

How beautiful it was.

“My Majesty.”

The Devil murmured.

The memory ended with the King’s departure. The Devil carefully put away the crystal ball, and reached out his hand to manifest a scarlet rose. He pinned the rose flower to his chest, and then walked briskly over the unlucky fellow who would forget everything when he woke up.

He didn’t mind completely disposing of a concealed danger for the King.

However, it would be very troublesome if those people from the Holy Inquisition crossed the sea, wouldn’t it?

It was already dusk at this time.

Blood red and darkness covered the earth, and it was the perfect time for all dark creatures to appear.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

The Devil was hidden in the darkness. He stood straight, the tails of his black swallow-tailed coat fluttered in the wind with the edges seeming to fade out like mist. He took off the rose on his chest and looked in the direction of the King’s departure: “Good day, my dear Majesty.”

He gently kissed the rose.

After Becoming The Tyrant CH 010 The Scarlet and Dark Colored Fate

“If you can succeed in the assassination.” The King’s white-gloved hand casually rolled the whip woven with golden thread. “However, my knights will probably be a little impolite.”

“Your Majesty’s knights are loyal.”

The young man bowed slightly and apologized for his words just now.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

Regarding what he said, the King remained noncommittal.

The young man carefully observed the young monarch in front of him.

His name was truly notorious and disreputable, but he was also the image of honorable nobility.

His silver hair fell to his shoulders. His crimson riding jacket was embroidered with a rose pattern with golden silk thread, and a dark gold iron rose brooch fixed his white scarf in place. But other than that, the young man saw other things that shocked him.

The King in front of him was very captivating, there was no question about that. But the sporadic signs of fate he caught were……

How to describe such signs?

The young man was an outstanding astrologer and diviner.

After careful preparation, he had a certain chance of capturing hazy signs from certain people with strong fates. Because of this, he asked the General to let him be part of the negotiating team from Bressi——he wanted to see the young King of Legrand with his own eyes.

However, after he prepared for an entire morning, and when he finally saw the King, he caught a sign that was completely out of his imagination.

He observed the King standing in the sun at three o’clock in the afternoon through pale crystal lenses and eyes that had been administered with morning dew. At that moment, what appeared before his eyes was a……a whirlpool.

Or a twisted curtain, as deep and ominous as if it had come from hell, with blood-colored swirls intertwined——was that dark red symbolizing the Rose family bloodline that ran through his veins?

The signs of fate only lasted for less than a second, but the astrologer was already pale and bloodless.

It was not only because of the energy that was taken, but also because of the picture that he had managed to spy on at that moment.

Overwhelming pressure and inexhaustible blood seeped out of the interweaving of black and red.

Would it be him?

Would the sun leaping from the abyss strait be the arrogant young King? How could a person who would become the sun be accompanied by such heavy darkness and bloody scarlet? Or, as the General said, the sun must be the Majesty of their Bressi Kingdom?

The astrologer couldn’t tell the difference.

“Your complexion is really terrible. Isn’t Bressi able to feed and clothe a mere scholar?”

The astrologer felt that the King was also examining him.

The other’s gaze was inattentive, but inexplicably it sent a chill down his back——perhaps it was a side effect of the scene he had just saw. He dared not look directly at the King at this moment.

The astrologer bowed slightly: “Bressi attaches great importance to scholars, and the General is even more so. I am not used to the climate on this side of the Abyss Strait——it’s truly cold here.”

“According to you, Bressi’s climate is very different?” the King asked.

“Yes, it is.”

In order to prevent the other from noticing what he had just done, the astrologer introduced the country on the other side of the Abyss Strait——it could be seen that he had a deep affection for his country. At least he tried hard to use his dry way of speaking to express the beauty of a country that didn’t have their first snow until October.

However, although this poor astrologer was very good at calculating the angles of the constellations, he was very awkward in terms of constructing speech.

Many thanks to the King for seemingly maintaining a little bit of chivalry. He didn’t make any comments on his boring commentary, and let him finish with compassion.

But was it really compassion?

The astrologer ran out of words, and he bid farewell to the King.

Watching the pale astrologer heading to the blue tent, a smile appeared on the King’s lips, which soon faded away.

“They have no way to sustain themselves for a long time here.”

The King said to himself.

Poor young man. He was used to using numbers and angles to describe the stars in the sky and Bressi on the other side of the Abyss Strait——this was a common problem of astrologers, just as historians liked to quote copiously from many sources. Ordinary people would just feel dizzy in the face of such dry numbers, wishing to flee immediately.

However, the King was able to decipher what he wanted from those numbers.

The Legrand Empire was on the west side of the Kingdom of Bressi, with the Abyss Strait in the middle, so it was called the “Western Continent”. The Legrand Empire would already be covered in snow by September, and normally the Bressi Kingdom would experience the same, both located in higher latitudes. But because of the obstacle the Legrand Empire provided, Bressi’s winter come much later.

During the two-day walk, the King observed that more than one soldier on the other side held their arms subconsciously.

Aside from this, the high latitude still had other effects on the Bressi Kingdom.

Although the cold wind was blocked by the Western Continent, ocean currents might not be necessarily the same. It was now the end of September. Soon when it became October, a storm would roll up on the Abyss Strait, and the direction of ocean currents would also change. At that time, the ships from the Kingdom of Bressi crossing the Abyss Strait would be doing so against the wind and currents——they would need to fight both the storms and ocean currents.

This meant that the cost of transporting materials would increase by ten times, a hundred times even.

The soldiers were not accustomed to the premature winter and the high prices of supplies……

So long as the Kingdom of Bressi occupied the Moon River Fortress, then it would be no different from continuously dropping gold into the Abyss Strait.

He imagined that at this moment, at the port on the opposite side of the Abyss Strait, sailors and ship merchants have already begun to complain. One must know, in this era, whether it was the Legrand Empire or the Bressi Kingdom, there was no such thing as giving subsidies in return for infringing on the interests of civilians.

It was impossible that the General of Bressi, who led the expeditionary army, did not understand this.

That was an experienced veteran. It was not difficult to see that when he ordered those involved in negotiations to dress warmly in clothes no different from the Legrand negotiating team.

But they were too hard-pressed to clothe their guard soldiers in such a manner as well.

The King speculated that something interesting might have happened between Bressi and a hostile country on the other side of the Abyss Strait.

Many thanks to that poor astrologer, he could never have imagined what crucial information he had revealed to the monarch of the enemy country.

Look, luck was on the side of the Legrand Empire, wasn’t it?

“Back to the tent.”

The armored knights who had stepped back stepped forward again and heard the King say so.

“This negotiation should be over soon.”

The armored knights bowed to the King.

Unlike the nobles who swore allegiance to the King at the coronation ceremony, these knights were the King’s “vowed knights”. They belonged to the King and only executed the commands of the King, using their lives to defend the King.

All people or things that were unfavorable to the King would meet the end of their sharp swords.

The leading knight commander straightened up and looked at the tents of the Bressi Kingdom.

“That’s an astrologer, I think he came to spy on your destiny.”

The knight commander bowed to the King and put his hand on the hilt of his sword.

“Your Majesty, do you need me to dispose of him?”

His tone made it perfectly clear that so long as the King nodded, he would have the young astrologer disappear from this world without anyone knowing it.

For these sworn knights, there was no such thing as a noble criterion forbidding them from engaging in assassination. There was only one criterion for them:

The will of the King.

This was their mission.

Spy on destiny?

The King thought indifferently.

This was really the funniest thing.

What destiny could he have?

A person who had been trapped in a death vortex from birth, a person who made a deal with the Devil and even sold his soul? If given the opportunity, he would like to ask the astrologer what he saw from him.

…………

After the negotiations became trapped in a long period of non-concession from the two sides, the King, the most critical figure, finally appeared at the negotiation table.

He sat in his seat, elbows lazily propped on the armrests, and ice-blue eyes looked critically at the people who were red in the face from arguing——whether it was his courtier or his enemy.

In this regard, the King was very “nondiscriminatory”, his arrogance not directed at a specific person.

——He held no one in regard.

Regarding the son of the Duke of Buckingham, the two parties have reached an agreement. The Legrand Empire would pay the ransom in installments. After receiving the second ransom from the King, the expeditionary army would return the hostages. But for this, the Legrand Empire needed to pay an extra monthly deferment fee.

Only the matter of the Moon River Fortress had been in dispute for a long time.

Of course, the Legrand Empire could not lose the Moon River Fortress, but the conditions set by the opponent were too high. One of them asked the Legrand Empire to cede a port.

However, both parties believed that this port was just a bonus. It was just a small port with a poor location, and its carrying capacity was also very low. The focus was on the overseas colonies belonging to the two sides.

This port quickly reached an agreement.

The King finally made a move at this time.

He clapped his hands and attracted everyone’s attention.

“If I remember correctly, this port should belong to my territory?”

The King stretched out his hand to suppress the quarrel, and only his soft voice could be heard in the tent.

“Your Majesty, the port is a sign of the truce and friendly trade between the two countries.”

The expeditionary General did not have a good impression of this tyrant, and his tone was very forceful.

“This is one of the necessary conditions for returning the Moon River Fortress.”

The Master of the Households leaned down and said in the King’s ears, risking the King’s anger in order to make the King understand that his port was not as important as the Moon River Fortress.

“If you really want to occupy the Moon River Fortress, it may not be impossible.”

The King said in a manner lacking any bearing of a sage king.

As soon as he opened his mouth to negotiate, all the envoys could see before their eyes was blackness.

“I don’t care if it’s located in a crucial spot or not. It doesn’t matter to me.” The King said simply and concisely. “If I want to, my uncle will always take it back for me. In that case, why should I sacrifice a beautiful port?”

“If you are willing to guard that pile of broken stones, then go right ahead.”

He had a very cold attitude, making it clear that he didn’t care about the Moon River Fortress at all.

The Moon River fortress, as a crucial stronghold of the Legrand Empire, became a “pile of broken stones” in the eyes of the King. This not only made the envoys of the Legrand Empire tremble in anger, but also caused their enemies to have on dark expressions.

The face of the General, who just a moment ago was holding the winning ticket, became very ugly.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

They saw the Moon River Fortress as an important bargaining chip, but they never expected that Pureland I would be so arrogant to this extent, unwilling to swallow any difficulties pit against him.

It was totally unreasonable.
