After Becoming The Tyrant CH 045 A Trip To Hell

“My dear Majesty, I was just about to come see you.”

The tide-like black mist flowed on the ground, and the Devil walked out of the thick, viscous darkness wearing his exquisite and gorgeous black formal suit. He pressed a hand across his chest and bowed slightly to salute the King.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

“I am glad to receive your rare summon.”

The King put down his rolled up sleeves.

According to the contract he signed with the Devil, he could summon the Devil if necessary. The King asked the former Knight Templar commander and confirmed that his contract with the Devil was different from that with ordinary dark creatures. His contract would not have any visible signs that would reveal his identity as a contractor, and even the Holy Court would not be able to detect it.

Only the King and the Devil could initiate the contract.

The Devil stepped on the soft carpet, walked over to where the King was sitting, and knelt down. He stretched out his hand to take over for the King, carefully smoothing the folds on his sleeves, and did up the buttons: “Is there anything you need from me? Your Majesty.”

After the Devil finished buttoning up for the King, he still did not stand up. Instead, he took the King’s hand with the rose ring worn on it and raised his head to look up at the King.

The King looked at his hand.

“Yah.”

The Devil showed a harmless smile.

“You are wearing the ancestral ring of the Rose family on your hand…..There is nothing wrong with being cautious, yes? Your Majesty.”

The King sneered: “You say this as if you haven’t tried to throw stones at me when I am down, again and again.”

“As your loyal hell knight, I have never done such a thing.” The Devil said unblinkingly, not a speck of guilt to be had.

——He just wanted to take the King back to hell, how could he be considered throwing stones at him?

The Devil knew very well just how “hellish” his Majesty’s style of doing things was. He didn’t think that the King would summon him for nothing…..Ai, though he did hope that the King would summon him from time to time. This way he could express his loyalty to the King. However, the King did not seem to think so. What a shame.

“About the matter of the ghost ship.”

The King looked down at the Devil.

“Please allow me to know the details, Your Majesty.”

The Devil seemed to have thought of something.

The King briefly recounted what happened to the Walway pirates, and then casually mentioned the “pardon from the king of that world” in the words of the witch. He stared at the Devil with icy blue eyes, attempting to decipher any information from his countenance.

The Devil was happy: “That is really a smart witch, besides Your Majesty, who else can be called King?”

The King looked at him.

These words seemed to contain a lot of things, but the Devil’s habitual exaggerated tone and mouth full of lies made it impossible not to tack on a few question marks.

“Do you want to know?” The Devil keenly noticed the King’s examining gaze and he knew what the King was thinking. He spoke enthusiastically. “I’d be very happy to tell you everything. As long as it is you who ask me, I will tell you everything I know. As long as you want to know…..”

“Forget it, I don’t want to.”

The King interrupted him.

The Devil sighed regretfully.

His Majesty was too shrewd and never willing to be fooled easily.

“Do you have any answers about the ghost ship that the Walway pirates encountered?”

“That’s not a ghost ship, Your Majesty.” The Devil smiled sardonically, “Those poor and ignorant pirates must have likely come across the dark world’s ship and unknowingly treated it as if it was one of those half alive alchemical ships.”

After the Devil’s explanation, the King understood the cause.

The “nether ships” that the Walway pirates looked for in the past were actually the remaining creations of ancient alchemists and was an existence that was half alive. In the legendary age before the Holy Court had expanded its influence and alchemists had not disappeared from the world, there were many half alive magical ships with different tempers that sailed across the Abyss Strait.

These semi-living ships themselves belong to the world of mortals, so they could sign contracts with humans.

However, the “ghost ship” discovered by the Walway pirates in Hanler Bay was not included in this list.

“That must be a messenger ship of a Lord of Hell, and that guy is in charge of ‘greed and ill-gotten wealth’——after the people who boarded the ship step on a certain limit, they would be convicted with a crime. The curse on those pirates is actually a judgement he issued. Your Majesty, there are rules in the mortal world, the same as there are rules in hell.” The Devil replied.

He seemed to be eager to answer any questions for the King, but in fact his answers only led to more questions.

Why did these semi-living ships exist? Where were the alchemists of the legendary age? What was hidden behind the expansion of the Holy Court…..The Devil cleverly hid these questions that were enough to arouse anyone’s curiosity in the answers he gave, waiting for the King’s further inquiry.

The King looked at him for a while and said coldly, “So that’s how it is.”

Oh! A “so that’s how it is”!

And then he just wouldn’t ask anymore!

The Devil was helpless: “The witch is right. Of course you can solve this problem of the pirates. However…..”

He let go of the King’s hand and stood up.

“You need something else.”

“What?”

“An invitation.”

The Devil leaned over gracefully and reached out a hand to the King.

“Will you take a trip to hell with me? My dear Majesty.”

The King did not answer, but slightly raised his eyebrows and looked at his outstretched hand.

The dark eyes of the Devil stared at the King, and that familiar, unfathomable smile was on his face: “Relax, Your Majesty. I have no plans to break the contract now.”

In other words, you had always wanted to violate the contract?

The King thought.

He stretched out his hand.

The smile of the Devil expanded a bit wider.

The black mist, thick and tidal-like, rolled up, enveloping the entire room.

The black mist dissipated, and the cold moonlight penetrated through the window and fell on the chair by the window. The young king closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair as if he was asleep.

………………

The King opened his eyes.

He heard the frantic flapping of wings and the hoarse and unpleasant crowing of a kind of bird.

The King looked up and saw a huge door standing a distance in front of him. Inside the door was a turbulent vortex of blood red and pitch black colors. The frequency of the flapping wings increased.

The King finally retracted his gaze and looked up at his side. On a black tree on his left, a crow was hopping excitedly on a branch, flapping frantically and crowing at him in an urgent manner.

The King looked at the crow in silence.

…..Was it his imagination? Why was it that he felt that this dark crow was trying to speak to him?

The crow seemed like it was nearly about to pass out with excitement. Seeing the King looking towards it, it hurriedly flapped its wings, flying off the branches. It screeched while flying around the King, trying to express something with his actions.

The King determined that it was indeed talking to him.

“What is it saying?”

The King looked at the Devil.

“It is praising you for having the most beautiful eyes in the world, praising you for having the most beautiful face it has ever seen, but this guy has limited vocabulary, so please don’t take it to heart.” The Devil looked very apologetic.

The crow turned angrily and flew towards the Devil, flapping its wings frantically and lifting its claws. The King got a feeling that it wanted to claw out the Devil’s eyes.

The Devil remained calm as usual, stretching out a hand and slapping the crow onto the ground: “Oh, it is actually called Mela, but this is not something worth remembering.”

“Hello, Mela.”

The King looked down at the crow that was slapped onto the ground by the Devil, seeming to still be getting over the dizziness.

The crow struggled, wanting to fly back up again when it suddenly heard the King’s voice. It suddenly paused in a very human-like manner, and then with a swishing sound, its black wings folded together and covered its little head.

“What’s wrong with it?”

“Like I said! This is just an idiot, there is no need to pay it much attention.”

The Devil bent over and lifted the crow whose head was still covered with its wings, and threw it on the branch carelesy. The crow angrily flapped opened its wings to reveal its dark red eyes, wanting to peck at the Devil’s hand. The Devil’s reaction was quick, and he withdrew his hand.

“Look! Not only stupid, but also a bad temper!”

The King looked at the Devil calmly. The Devil was smiling, his face always seeming to have a smiling mask firmly in place.

The King withdrew his gaze: “What is that?”

He was asking about the door.

“The gate of purgatory, passing through it is the territory of hell.” The Devil remembered something, “Because Your Majesty does not completely belong to hell yet, you cannot enter in the nightmare carriage, so please allow me the following tiny offense.”

The King did not answer, but acquiesced by taking two steps forward.

The Devil and the King walked towards the gate of purgatory together, and the King could clearly see the words engraved on the gate. The Devil seemed to be waiting for the King to ask what happened to the two lines that were crossed out, but the King just looked at it for a while before saying to the Devil, “Let’s go.”

The Devil sighed regretfully.

He pinned a bright red rose to the collar of the King’s shirt, and then leaned forward slightly. He was much taller than the King, and when he leaned down, it was at a perfect angle to whisper in the King’s ear: “Well, then…..welcome to hell, my dear Majesty.”

The King heard him chuckle, and then he felt the other embracing him.

In his field of vision, countless black butterflies hovered and flew in the air, enclosing the King and the Devil together.

The crow that was on the tree branch flapped its wings, watching the Devil and the King disappear in front of the gate of purgatory.

——In the entirety of hell, only he could take the Majesty of now through the gate of purgatory.

………………

Chaos.

It seemed like the world was plunged into the deep seabed, surrounded by endless dark and bloody vortexes. The only thing that seemed to be real was the Devil’s power that was embracing him.

He had clearly passed through the gate of purgatory, but the King felt as if he was falling down midair.

Until he touched the ground again.

“We have arrived, Your Majesty.”

The voice of the Devil rang in his ears.

At the same time, the King heard other noises——like the sound of the wind passing over the land and its faint sorrowful wailing.

He opened his eyes.

Hell unfolded before the eyes of the King.

The dark red sky that was bleeding all the time, the never-ending rain of fire. The scorched earth, dotted lakes of sulfur and fire and white steaming mist. The sharp, bladelike mountain ridges, the countless corpses hanging from it, the white souls of the departed meandering by…..

The Devil stood beside the King. He plucked a black umbrella out of thin air and opened it with a click, holding it over the King’s head to block the rain of fire.

“This is hell.”

After a long time, the King spoke.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

His pupils reflected the dark red sky, the ink black earth, the red gold sulfur lake, and the pale white souls of the departed.

The pupils of the Devil reflected his image.

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

This was hell.

The dead and barren hell which had been waiting for your return.

After Becoming The Tyrant CH 044 Ghost Ship

“Listen to this typical Rose family tone.” The pirate captain muttered, “Okay, okay, you are right. We did accidentally meet with a little trouble…..Maybe you are interested in condescending to listen to one short story?”

“I am glad to.”

“Have you heard of ghost ships?” The pirate captain asked.

“A little bit.”

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

“Then let our story begin with the ghost ship.” The pirate captain took out a gold pocket watch carved with roses and opened it with a “snap”. “Look at this, it was obtained from the ghost ship. Although the people’s rumors are always far from the truth, but one thing is certain——Walway owns more than one ghost ship.”

The King took the pocket watch handed to him.

It was actually an extremely complex foldable astronomical instrument with fine scales on it, including a compass sundial, etc. The gold-plated pocket watch was heavy on the hand and very complicated words could be seen engraved on the front and back of the pocket watch. The words did not belong to any of the current circulating language, those words were slender yet dense, like many snakes entangled together.

If one looked closely, there would be an illusion that those snakes were actually twisting slithering before one’s eyes.

The legend of the ghost ship was widely spread.

People firmly believed that there were ships wandering in the sea from ancient times to the present. Those ships only belonged to ghosts full of hatred. They were loaded with gold and jewelry but whoever dared to take the jewelry from the ship would be befelled with an ancient curse.

“Do you believe it? There is a kind of ship, which is as alive as you and me.”

Asked the pirate captain.

“Do you mean that Walway owns ships that are alive?” The King asked rhetorically.

“Yes.”

The Walway pirates who wander the sea all year round had a different definition for “ghost ships”. They called a kind of bizarre ship “ghost ship”——this kind of ship was alive in itself! The ship had its own life, its own will, and when people walked quietly on it in the middle of the night, they would be able to hear the ship’s breathing.

When they see other ships at sea, they would sometimes avoid the ships themselves, but sometimes they would pass by the merchant ships in a provoking manner.

This was why the story of “ghost ships” was widely circulated.

Once the Walway pirates got news about a “ghost ship”, they would immediately hunt for it. They had their own special methods to sign contracts with these ships, allowing the ghost ships to join the Walway pirates and become a member of them. Prior to this, the Walway pirates had a total of three ghost ships.

It was precisely because of the existence of these ghost ships that they could become the most dangerous, fantastical and mysterious pirates.

“But during the battle of the Five Port Alliance, your ghost ships seem to have not participated?” The King became interested in these ghost ships, “is it because they can’t appear in front of people?”

“No.” The pirate captain’s lips curled down, showing a bitter expression, “Because they refuse us to board them now.”

The matter stretched back to a month ago.

At that time, the Walway pirates got a clue to a ghost ship and hunted for it as usual. They found the ghost ship stranded on the beach of Handler Harbor on a stormy night.

Because ghost ships sometimes repelled each other before entering into a contract with humans, they often only steered ordinary ships when searching for new ghost ships.

The boarding process went smoothly, and the ghost ship did not seem to be rejective of them.

The ghost ship was full of pearls and gold, but when one of them picked up a pearl at random, a black flame rose up and burned him to ashes. At first everyone thought this was because that bastard didn’t wait for the contract to be completed before touching anything and rashly angered the ghost ship——some ghost ships were very generous and willing to share their treasures with the pirates, but some were very stingy and did not allow their possessions to be touched.

But, soon, the pirates found out that they were wrong——

This was not an ordinary ghost ship.

Not only did their past contract ceremony which used to be held very smoothly with other ghost ships fail, everyone also got a black tattoo on their bodies.

A trap.

Everything, from the ghost ship being moored quietly on the beach and allowing them to successfully board, was a trap. After the tattoo appeared on their bodies, they could vaguely feel that the ship was pulling something from their bodies.

After a fierce battle, the pirate captain successfully led everyone in an escape from the ship, but when they returned to the Walway pirate base camp, they discovered something bad——

The ghost ships they originally owned now refused to let them board them.

Because of this, this time there was no ghost ship participating in the naval battle.

“We were all cursed.”

The pirate captain rolled up his sleeves and let the King see the black lines on his arm——the curse was spreading. Maybe when these black lines completely covered the whole body, their lives would be over.

Seeing the black lines on the pirate captain’s arm, the King’s finger bent slightly.

He had seen this before.

——When the Devil signed a contract with him.

But there was still a big difference between the two. The black lines created by the Devil’s signing of the contract formed an extremely complicated pattern that was beyond human imagination. That pattern only appeared once. In comparison, these lines on the pirate captain were simply stick figures.

“Hunting the ghost ship, steering the ghost ship…..” The King remained expressionless, “You are indeed courageous.”

“There is such a saying among us Walway brothers,” the pirate captain replied, “To fear God and the fearless.”

“To fear God and the fearless…..a very wonderful saying.”

The King evaluated.

Mentioning the fearless and God on equal terms was not something that displayed any awe towards God, but contempt——the fearless was comparable to that of God.

This was an arrogant expression of blasphemy.

The pirate captain blinked at the King with delight when he heard these words: “You are interesting indeed…..If you are also at Walway, you would make the most charming pirate.”

“It’s just that I am a little puzzled.” The King pondered, “Why did you choose to ask me for help? Perhaps normal people would choose the priests of the Holy Court when encountering curses?”

“Let those fellows in long robes put their hands on our heads and say, the Lord forgives you, and then pour a mess of holy water on our heads? God, that’s too stupid.” The pirate captain exaggerated his expression of distaste and then saw that the King was still staring at him.

“Alright, fine. Because of a witch.”

He gave in.

The backgrounds of the members of the Walway pirates were complicated, and there were practically all kinds of backgrounds. A few years ago, they had accepted a witch who was nearly burned to death by the Holy Court. That witch was proficient in ancient fortune-telling and the interpretation of secret languages. It was this witch who found the way to break this curse.

It required a very complicated ceremony. The most critical part of the ceremony was “the pardon from the King of that world.”

“One thing that is puzzling.”

The pirate captain looked at the King with a hidden, inquisitive manner.

“She thinks that you are the King spoken in the prediction.”

The pirate captain regrettably failed to obtain any useful information from the King’s face. He showed no hints of what he was feeling or thinking at all, and just asked, “What steps are needed for this so-called pardon.”

“Do you need me to issue a permanent pardon for you?”

The King asked half-jokingly.

“This…..” The pirate captain spread his hands helplessly, “She didn’t say. Maybe so? But since you agreed, then I will ask her in detail.”

The King was noncommittal.

“You won’t tell sir Duke of this matter, will you?”

The pirate captain recalled something, and then asked.

“It depends on your performance.”

The King smiled gently.

The King now understood the whole matter.

The Walway pirates were unfortunately involved with an ancient curse and they needed the help of the King. Luckily for them, the King also needed the help of the pirates. However, with the temper of the Duke of Buckingham, if he knew that they dared to ask the King to participate in this dangerous curse incident, he would definitely draw out his sword. As a result, the pirate captain agreed to the appointment of admiral and helped the royal fleet defeat the Five Port Alliance.

The pirate captain originally thought that the King would never accept a naval general like him.

But it seems that rumors mislead people!

“Mr. Admiral.” The King bit the word “Admiral” very hard. “Since you cleverly took advantage of the lumbering characteristics of the Five Port Alliance ships in the port of Koszoya, then I believe you must have a way to improve this flaw?”

“Since you really don’t take criticism to the heart…..then, alright. I do.”

Captain Hawkins shrugged and replied.

The King smiled with satisfaction.

The situation could be considered satisfactory to both parties, and Captain Hawkins had to contact Walway’s witch, so he bid farewell to the King. He hummed a nonsensical tune that adapted the lyrics from a sea song, “From today onwards,  the wise Captain Hawkins is now the noble Sir Knight…..oh oh oh!”

The King did not bother to comment on his unruly behavior.

“By the way.”

The pirate captain took two steps forward like dancing, turned around again, and looked at the King.

“I have a small request.”

“Speak.”

“My foolish first mate asks to enter St. Wyth Cathedral, can you satisfy his little wish?”

The King was slightly surprised: “Of course he can, but…..are pirates religious?”

“Oh, Your Majesty, please don’t confuse us with those priests that are no different from dead sticks of wood. On the sea, the Lord does not bless us pirates.” The pirate captain replied, “En…..something personal. Back then, your father William owed Charles a little promise, so he intends to see him about this.”

The King remembered. William III was buried in St. Wyth Cathedral.

He opened the drawer, planning to sign an appropriation: “How much does he owe Mr. Charles?”

“You misunderstood.”

The pirate captain turned around and lowered his black hat.

“He once boasted to Charles that he’ll take him on a tour of Legrand’s most beautiful snow-capped mountains, but now it looks like that is just another boast from that bastard.”

When the pirate captain stepped out of the door, he heard the King’s voice sound from behind him:

“Please tell Mr. Charles that the resting place of St. Wyth is always open to him.”

The pirate captain let out a brisk whistle to indicate that he heard.

“Too similar.”

As he left the palace, he spoke to himself.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

The King sat quietly in the study room where he was the only one left.

Calculating the time, the Black Death was about to come, in addition there was the matter he promised Captain Hawkins…..

It was time to summon the Devil.

After Becoming The Tyrant CH 043 The Pirates’ Little Problem

“Hi, old mate, I thought you had already forgotten how to contact me.”

The pirate captain with a black hat walked briskly into the King’s study as if dancing. There was a slanting scar on his face, a cowhide wine flask hung on his waist, and a still lingering scent of alcohol on his person. It was difficult to tell how old he was from his appearance, possessing the typical unruliness of a pirate.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

Normal people couldn’t do something like wear ragged clothes to see the King.

The expression on the Duke of Buckingham’s face broke for a moment: “I thought it was Charles who was going to come see His Majesty? Didn’t you swear not to set foot on land forever?”

“How can this be? After all, Walway’s nominal pirate captain is still me!” The pirate captain replied with a grin. He took off the black hat that hadn’t been washed for who knew how long, and bowed to the King like a circus performer.

“Do you know each other?”

The King looked at the Duke of Buckingham.

“No, I don’t know.”

The Duke of Buckingham replied decisively.

“Oh oh oh! I just knew you aristocrats could be more hypocritical and deceitful one after another!” The pirate captain yelled like a rooster crowing, “God, my noble lord! When you were still a prince back then, how pleasantly you spoke! What ‘I appreciate your freedom and fearlessness!’ What…..”

“Shut up.”

The Duke of Buckingham scolded sharply.

He began to regret it.

What had Charles been doing these many years? How could he not keep a close eye on this neuropathic that pollutes the earth? No, to be more precise, why didn’t that group of pirates kill this guy? If he had known that it was him coming here to meet the King, the Duke of Buckingham would have stationed dozens of royal guards at the gate of the palace.

Don’t even think about stepping into the palace, let alone meet the King.

“Your Majesty, I will introduce you to a more suitable admiral, let the guards come in and drive out this gibberish guy.” The Duke of Buckingham said, raising a hand and preparing to call the soldiers to come in.

“God!”

The pirate captain widened his eyes and looked at the Duke of Buckingham in disbelief.

“My dear brother! When you urged us to hurry up and come over from Walway, you spoke so nicely and amiably! Saying something like Legrand needs our courage and blood. But now that we cleaned up the trash that is the Five Port Alliance for you, you turn your face and deny knowing us? If you’re on the ship right now you’ll definitely be tied and hung up on the mast.”

All right then.

Now, the King also knew just where the Duke of Buckingham’s disdain of this guy came from…..When he used his hoarse scratchy voice to speak in the tone of an aggrieved noble lady complaining about her lover, it was enough to pollute his hearing and vision.

It was really not something ordinary people could do to seamlessly switch between an undulating tone and a crazy display.

“My dear Majesty, you wouldn’t be as ruthless as your uncle,  would you?” Seeing the guards really push open the door, the pirate captain turned his eyes to the King.

The King waved his hand and motioned the guards to go out: “I thought the rumors about me should not include anything like mercy?”

“Okay, okay.” The pirate captain looked even more resentful. “Another William, another Rose family member…..Seriously, knowing the rascals of the Rose family is definitely the biggest failure in the wise and illustrious life of the one and only Captain Hawkins. “

“You make me feel that you shouldn’t be standing here, but should be staying with my gentlemen scientists instead. Now, Mr. Heroic Pirate Captain, please tell me about the past while my patience is still present.”

The King interrupted the pirate captain.

“Let me recount it.”

The Duke of Buckingham took over the stream of conversation.

He really didn’t want to hear that bastard talking nonsense to the King in front of him, he knew too much about this rascal of the sea.

“The royal family actually maintains a certain degree of contact with the Walway pirates.”

When they were young, the Duke of Buckingham and William III, for some reason, spent a period of time on the Walway pirate ships and befriended some pirates.

When the King took the throne at a young age, Bressi crossed the sea on more than one expedition.

The most dangerous time was when the Duke of Buckingham had to face the domestic rebellion and expeditionary army at the same time. That time he had to secretly send a letter to the Walway pirates. After receiving a secret letter from the Duke of Buckingham, the Walway pirates ambushed and delayed Bressi’s expedition to a certain extent out on the sea as they did a few days ago.

Frankly speaking, compared with the Walway pirates, the royal fleet commanders of the Legrand royal family were nothing but a waste of space.

The Walvey pirates, supported by the weapons of the Rose royal family, exhibited their experience at sea to the fullest——Of course, part of the reason was that these pirates had no moral limits and no chivalry. They fought for the Duke of Buckingham to gain precious time from the Bressi expeditionary army.

Since then, the royal family secretly provided some support for the Walway pirates.

After all, the Walway pirates were not sea monsters that really lived in the sea. They still needed to obtain supplies from land on a regular basis. The royal family regularly prepared supplies for them on certain uninhabited islands. The Walway pirates thus avoided the danger of being discovered and hunted down to obtain supplies. It was precisely because of this that legends about them had become more and more fantastical.

In the end, they even became specters on the sea.

For their part in this mutually beneficial partnership, the Walway pirates would provide the royal family with some information they had observed at sea. As a result, the Duke of Buckingham succeeded in arresting some overseas spies from other countries.

To some extent, the Walway pirates could also be regarded as a shadow blade of the Rose family along the coast. Although not considered all that obedient.

However, as the royal family’s conspiracy with pirates would not result in a good reputation, it could not see the light of day.

Before this, because of other considerations, the Duke of Buckingham did not reveal this to the King. It wasn’t until the Duke of Buckingham saw the King’s plan to reform the military system, coupled with the Five Port Alliance rebellion, that he finally decided to let them appear in the King’s field of vision.

After listening to the words of the Duke of Buckingham, the King fell into thought.

If this was the case, it made sense why the Duke of Buckingham was able to contact the Walway pirates who wandered the sea without a trace.

Towards the royal family and the pirates maintaining a mutually beneficial partnership, the King didn’t care at all.

“My dear old mate, how come when spoken from your mouth, our great friendship is only left with cold and business-only cooperation! Are we helping you time and time again just for those supplies? I will tell Charles about everything you said just now! Too hurtful, you are!” The pirate captain sighed sorrowfully.

The Duke of Buckingham wanted to throw him out again.

“Alright, sir,” the King said gently, “I believe you did help Legrand out of a sincere friendship. I will not insult your noble character. Later I will tell people to stop transporting supplies to the islands, the position of admiral will also be reconsidered.”

“Wait, Your Majesty.” The pirate captain put on a serious expression, “This noble spirit is for knights. But for pirates like us, please continue to insult our character with gold coins.”

“I want to talk to this gentleman alone for a while.” The King turned his head to look at the Duke of Buckingham

“Although I disagree very much, your will shall always be my will.” The Duke of Buckingham glanced warningly at the pirate captain who stood without any sense of propriety, “I will have Charles come over as soon as possible.”

“You are too heartless.”

The pirate captain mumbled.

Only the King and the pirate captain were left in the study. The King did not speak, but looked at the pirate captain calmly.

“Damn.” The pirate captain sighed helplessly, “You and William are so alike…..To be honest, you are very different from the rumors, you are too keen, Your Majesty.”

“I am happy that my uncle has a true friend.”

The King revealed an light smile.

The King saw that this mad pirate captain with no sense of propriety unexpectedly took his friendship with the Duke of Buckingham and William III to heart. The reason why he was willing to break his oath and set foot on land was probably not just because of the supplies provided by the royal family.

It was this friendship that made the pirate captain unwilling to discuss matters that really involved interests with the Duke of Buckingham’s nephew in front of him. Therefore he had been jesting and full of buffoonery this whole time.

“Unfortunately, as you can see, he doesn’t seem to think so.”

The pirate captain complained.

“This is something you need to reflect on yourself.” The King said bluntly.

“You are the third interesting person I have seen recently——and the most interesting one.” The pirate captain said with emotion, “The Rose family is really full of talents.”

“I am a little curious about who are the first two you speak of?”

“Your gentlemen chemists, they are currently experimenting on how to use limited-power artillery at sea.” The pirate captain said tentatively, “If they are on my ship, I would definitely be willing to entertain them with butter and spirits. They will be the best gunners.”

“Oh, this won’t work, sir.” The King replied, “Allow me to remind you of one thing. You are now a navy admiral of the royal Rose family.”

“What?!”

The pirate captain widened his eyes and pointed at himself.

“Are you kidding me? Am I not enough to dispel your confidence in the Walway pirates?”

“No.” The King laughed lightly. “On the contrary, you have made me more confident in the Walway pirates.”

The expression of the pirate captain was dazed for a moment.

The King touched his fingers against each other, and he looked at the pirate captain with interest: “Before I saw you, I might still believe that you really came for the letter of appointment. But after seeing you, I had to overthrow my previous assumptions——If this was really your desire, you would have become an admiral at the time of my father’s reign.”

“So…..”

The King smiled.

“Let me guess, why are you willing to show up in Koszoya even though you obviously don’t need a naval position?”

“You have met with a spot of trouble.”

The King said softly.

His icy blue eyes seemed to penetrate through everything.

“A spot of trouble that only I can solve.”

The pirate captain was silent for a moment, and then became angry: “I’m going to kill those nonsense and rumor spreading bastards! Who the hell told me that you are an incompetent tyrant! Are all their eyeballs thrown into the Abyss Strait? ? Or do they have no brains at all?”

“Be quiet, sir.”

The King leaned back and placed his arm on the back of the chair.

“Now, let’s talk about what troubles you have encountered.”

AN: In history, Britain often appointed pirates to participate in foreign wars. In the British-Spanish War of 1588, the Royal Navy’s battleships were actually very few, accounting for only 18%. Corsair ships became an important force in this war. Drake commanded the Royal Navy ship “Vengeance”, Hawkins commanded the “Victory”, Martin Frobicher commanded the “Triumphal”…..the pirates did much better than the royal fleet -cough-

After Becoming The Tyrant CH 042 Blood, Fire, Fury

TN: bonus chapter!💕

Winter night, the port of Koszoya.

It was completely different now from the usual. The center of maritime trade was now shrouded in solemnity, and the peninsula that stretched out to the sea had been permeated with a tense atmosphere since a week ago. The Five Port Alliance had rejected the governor’s search, and the main port ships except the Dawson family began to converge towards Koszoya.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

The main port forces headed by the Ross family tried to preemptively complete the preparations before the King’s war order was issued.

A total of forty-seven ships, large and small, were moored on the dock of Koszoya Port. Among them, the most dazzling ones were the four big ships of the main port families.

But these days of preparation were not so happy.

With the promulgation of the Trade Law, the alliance cities separated one after another, and the reputation of the Five Port Alliance plummeted.

Pirates who used to fear them had become rampant during this period of time, looting ships in the main port unscrupulously. Since the Ross patriarch gathered the ships controlled by the main port to Koszoya in preparation for war, the pirates took advantage of the night to sail small boats to attack them every day.

Those pirates were very cunning. They only attacked the small ships near the entrance to the sea and never provoked the big ships of the main port families.

In order to stabilize the hearts of the people, and to show that the Five Port Alliance was still inviolable, the Ross patriarch ordered the ships to prepare. Once the pirates reappear tonight, they would launch an attack immediately and have these fellows pay the price for wanting to take a bite after scenting blood.

The port looked the same as the previous few days, and the ships were mooring quietly in the shadows.

When the sailors gradually lost patience, the shadow of the pirate ships appeared on the sea, their boorish whistles coming from afar.

When the pirate ships approached, the sound of sharp arrows breaking through the air suddenly sounded.

In the darkness, the port was lit with the light from the flames.

The Ross family’s large ship “Lavelle” was already called to stop at a place closer to the sea in the evening. After the pirates approached tonight, from the embrasures on the Ross family battleship arrows immediately flew into the sky. The rain of arrows fell on the pirate ships that dared to come.

The frivolous whistling of the pirates came to an abrupt end, and they began to curse loudly, mixed with shouts and wailing of pain.

In the darkness, the lighthouse of Koszoya Port lit up, the light flickering, followed by the long sound of the whistle from the “Lavelle”, sharp and piercing. The originally serene and tranquil port awakened in an instant, and ships of various sizes that had been frustrated for several days were lit with torches at the same time.

The sailors on the “Lavelle” shouted in unison, and the white sails were raised in an instant. The huge ship was like a beast awakened from a deep slumber, breaking through the calm sea amidst the noise and shooting out of the harbor.

The pirates who saw this devolving situation turned the bow of their ships, wanting to take advantage of the speed of their ships and quickly leave as soon as possible.

However, Koszoya Port had made sufficient preparations to vent its anger tonight. One by one, the warships left the harbor and sailed into the sea, opening a pocket-like encirclement, and gradually enclosing in on the pirate ships.

The sailors, who had been frustrated for several days, shouted in unison, cursing at the pirate ships that they had never held much regard for.

“Sink them down!”

The Ross patriarch stood on the upper floor of the “Lavelle” ship, looking coldly at the small ships gliding on the sea, and ordered.

As the most powerful family of the Five Port Alliance, the iconic battleship of the Ross family, the “Lavelle”, was definitely one of the most powerful battleships today. This was a three-mast multi-sail giant ship, the mast was composed of pine tree cores, and the diameter was up to one meter. Three giant sails were hung on each mast, and there was a neat long row of giant oars on both sides of the hull. Even without the help of wind, it could still wreak havoc on the sea.

The wind was strong tonight, and the sails were bulging like shells. The oarsmen shouted in unison. The “Lavelle” left a long white streak on the sea. In such a short time, the speed was amazing, actually managing to gradually catch up with the pirate ships famous for their speed.

The distance was close, and the trebuchet loaded upstairs was ready to shoot.

With an order from Patriarch Ross, huge stones replaced the iron arrows, smashing into the pirate ships in front of him accompanied by a howling wind.

The sea water splashed high and the sound was shocking. The unlucky pirate ship was overturned and sank into the sea. The shocked and fearful hollering of the pirates remained in the air. The Ross family used a ship version trebuchet that could be called a killing machine, and the other two main port ships that came out together were also not far behind.

For a time, it was like a shower of meteors whistling past and falling, huge rocks raining into the sea.

In order to avoid the rocks, the pirate ships no longer bothered to flee along the familiar coastline, but blindly rushed straight forward. But the remaining warships in the main port have gradually gathered.

Except for Madam Poison Spider’s ship guarding the Port of Koszoya, the other ships in the main port all joined the siege against the pirates. This was a one-side massacre. What they wanted was to reestablish their prestige and vent their resentment. This was not uncommon at sea.

The remaining warships began to surround.

Most of the warships that sailed out for the battle were single-deck galleys. They were not as big as the big warships of the main port, but they were definitely better than those of the pirates. After they gathered, each ship was like a sword. The ships rushed forward through the waves, their sharp bows ramming into the pirate ships in an attempt to sink these sorry looking pirates with the usual domineering attitude of the Five Port Alliance in order to vent their hatred.

The encirclement was formed on the large expanse of sea, the black waves rolled, and the icy water splashed and poured down like heavy rain.

The sailors of the main port clamored loudly, taking revenge on the insults they had suffered a few nights ago.

They believed they would see the enemy trembling and pleading.

The bows of the ships crossed, and the merchant ships of the main port stabbed into the pirate ships like sharp knives. The sailors who had prepared for an entire day cheered and eagerly stood up on the deck, drawing their swords as they prepared to jump onto the other’s ships to kill those hateful enemies.

However, even more arrogant boorish laughter rang out.

Their enemies were also laughing out loud.

The pirates jumped up from the ship, completely uncaring that their ships were knocked over and tilted, the seawater flooding their means of livelihood. Under the horrified eyes of the sailors, they threw out the iron chains and hooked them onto the warships of the main port.

Seeing the iron chains that were as nimble as snakes being thrown over one after another, the faces of the more knowledgeable old sailors changed in an instant.

“Walway Pirates!”

Don’t know who first yelled in fear.

Suddenly, this kind of shouting spread across the sea.

Patriarch Ross on the “Lavelle” snatched the torch of the deputy next to him. He stood on the bow and threw the torch down to illuminate the overturned pirate ships underneath: “What is this!”

He roared in disbelief.

Although most merchant ships now also worked as part-time pirates, there were still some more thoroughly professional pirates on both sides of the Abyss Strait.

One of the best was the Walway pirates who were best at using iron chain hooks as their sign.

They were active on the coast of central Legrand and were recognized as the most terrifying pirates on the sea.

The Walway pirates were a gang of rogues. They were not like other pirates who always go ashore to commit robbery. They considered themselves ravagers of the sea and hardly stayed on the coast. They were integrated with the sea, and even if it stormed, they still sailed out on the sea.

They were the specters that drifted on the sea.

Every Walway pirate was the best sailor and the most ruthless butcher.

However, there had been no conflict between them and the Five Port Alliance. The scope of activities of the two parties was not in the same place. So why did they suddenly appear here and attack the port in disguise as ordinary pirates for several days?

“Something’s not right!”

Patriarch Ross realized in shock. He roared out, ordering all the ships to disperse immediately. How could the Walway Pirates be surrounded by them so easily?!

“Withdraw! Withdraw!”

The sea gale howled, and the splashing sea water caused by the collision of the ships fell down like cold rain. There was noise all around, and the shouts of Patriarch Ross were drowned out by the noise, but he recovered and blew the whistle as a signal hard, sharp and anxious.

But, it was too late.

One after another pirates emerged from the seawater, gleaming daggers held between their teeths.

The huge rocks thrown by the main port ships just now had actually failed to bury them under the sea! These guys just took the opportunity to dive into the sea and swim the whole way to pierce the board of the ships under the water. These insidious guys especially picked the smallest ships to start, succeeding with the fastest speed.

“Archers, archers!”

Patriarch Ross gave an order.

There was a growing anxiety in his heart.

The fierce pirates threw out chain after chain, the chains criss-crossing by, all with a cold iron hook on the ends. The main port warships that pierced into the pirate ship pile like sharp knives were instantly locked in place with the series of chains. Patriarch Ross had no time or desire to care about the lives of the sailors on these ships, only urging the archers to shoot arrows.

They must break out of here quickly, otherwise more terrible things would happen.

The sailors on the big ships had already been stunned by this series of changes. They originally thought they were the hunters tonight, but the facts tell them that they were just other people’s dishes. Under the urging shouts, the crew hurriedly removed the trebuchet, replaced it with a longbow, and started shooting arrows downwards.

Immediately after the longbow was pulled, the Wolway pirates who suddenly appeared all flipped over and dived into the cold water again.

There was a loud thunderous noise.

A dark red light lit up in another part of the darkness.

“Holy Lord!”

The sailors stared dumbfounded in the direction of the sound. Someone’s longbow fell on the deck.

Holy Lord! What on earth was that!

On the sea, without anyone noticing, a new team of ships had arrived. As they exhausted their energy to force the pirate ships together, these ships had also quietly surrounded them too. If they had just left the port, the main port fleet would not be afraid of these warships, but they had already been firmly manipulated by those damned pirates.

The loud noise was emitted by the iron cannon mounted on the largest enemy ship.

The crude artillery had no offensive power, but the sound was loud so it was used as a signal at this time.

The torches were lit on the warships that sailed out of the darkness. In the light of the fire, Patriarch Ross saw the sail flags flying on the warships.

——It was a huge scarlet sail, with iron roses blooming brilliantly on the dark red background.

Rose, Rose!

“The Royal Fleet!!”

Patriarch Ross staggered back two steps, leaning on the cold railing, iciness overcoming him.

“Impossible!”

Disordered thoughts filled the minds of him and all the members of the main port——

Why did the Walway pirates who were active on the coast of central Legrand appear here? Why did the royal fleet appear even before the Holy Court’s battleships? The royal fleet was such a large target on the sea, so why didn’t the Port Koszoya report anything?

Seeming to also be aware of their questions——

The pirates emerged from the sea water in front of the warships flying the Royal Rose banner. They laughed loudly and tore off the clothing covering their chests. Under the clothes emblazoned with the skull symbol, which was often used to designate their pirate status, was the Royal Rose pattern.

These unruly pirates were sent by the King!

The King——

He sent a gang of rogues!

Two men whose hair seemed to have been burnt by fire stood by the cannon on the main ship of the royal fleet. They turned a deaf ear to the noise around them, and instead squatted in front of the cannon, muttering under their breaths.

Standing next to these two people were the King’s governor-general of the royal navy, and a pirate wearing a tattered jacket and a black hat which sat rakishly on his head.

The royal fleet was approaching.

The warships of the main port were thrown in a panic, trying to break free from the iron chains. However, the small ships had already been pierced through and the sea water had poured in, causing them to sink rapidly. And the larger ships which were connected with them by the intercrossing iron chains were also gradually tilting. The core ship of the main port, “Lavelle” was also trapped in the very middle, like having slipped into a bog.

“Hey!”

In the wind, the black-hat pirate standing on the main ship of the royal fleet yelled.

“His Majesty asked me to convey a word——”

As his scratchy hoarse voice sounded, the sailors on the royal battleships appeared on the bow carrying buckets of unknown substance.

The governor-general raised his hand high and waved downward forcefully.

The sailors poured the thick black liquid in the buckets into the sea water.

The pirates pulled the ropes hanging down and quickly climbed onto the royal warships. They stood on the deck and shouted in unison with their leader:

“Is this fire big enough for you?”

The sound of the wind shattered their shouts into fragments. These rogues, who were also covered in blood, shouted and laughed over and over again.

Under the laughter, the royal fleet quickly evacuated backwards.

The pirate captain and some sailors pulled a longbow, the arrow on the string alight with flames. The fiery arrows flashed through the air and fell into the water.

Amidst the wild laughter, the fire roared and surged.

The sea wind was fierce, and in a few blinks, the fire was already raging like the fires of the apocalypse. The red fire spread rapidly across the sea, and in a blink of an eye it became a lake of fire, a vast ocean of purgatory. The black smoke fluttered upward, hovering like poisonous snakes.

On the overlooking tower of Koszoya Port, the Madam Poison Spider was holding on to the window sill and looking out at the looming fire from a distance.

“What a terribly frightening Majesty.”

After a long time, this poisonous spider lady known as a “femme fatale” said bitterly.

Even she did not expect that the King would use this method in the end.

Was it enough to burn up one Five Port Alliance in the fire that finally erupted after these thousand years?

In the wind, the pirates represented the King, who was far away in the Rose Palace but whose will still shrouded this area of the sea, to convey the answer:

“——Far from enough.”

The fire was raging, and the white sails of the ambitious Ross family curled in the flames.

On the royal battleships that were gradually sailing away, the high-hanging flag of the Royal Rose was reflected with bronze-like ancient glories. Little by little the old giant ships were burned to ashes in the flames. The “divine punishment” spoken by the Holy Court was ultimately controlled by the Rose family.

In the winter when the snow fell, the first fire ignited in the southeast sea of Legrand.

From then on, there was no longer any “Uncrowned King of the Sea and Commerce”.

………………

The resistance movement of the Five Port Alliance was over.

The reason for the end was simple——the Five Port Alliance no longer existed.

The nobles in southeast Legrand were likely not to be able to sleep well during this period.

They only just slept a night and when they woke up the next day, they discovered that the royal battleships had been docked in various ports including Koszoya, the Royal Rose flag flying in front of their eyes.

Holy Lord! Could anyone tell them what was going on? Why did the world turn upside down overnight?

The nobles and the chambers of commerce who had withdrawn from the alliance watched with horror as the royal battleships swept away the remnants of the Five Port Alliance. They couldn’t understand what was going on even after thinking fiercely. In this purge, only Madam Poison Spider and the Dawson family remained of the five main port families.

But they obediently handed over the port they controlled.

When the ships flying the royal flags appeared in his field of vision, Patriarch Dawson was relieved——his choice this time was not wrong.

“What a cruel and terrifying King.”

He let out the same sigh as Madam Poison Spider.

The young Patriarch Dawson thought of the previous parliamentary meeting.

He personally set off to participate in the parliament that time, in order to see with his own eyes the young king who he had only heard all kinds of rumors about before. In front of the guillotine where the county lords died, Patriarch Dawson finally made up his mind——that was a monarch with a heart that was as cold and hard as steel. He absolutely didn’t mind throwing another Dawson family on the guillotine.

Patriarch Dawson saw the King.

He knelt on the ground on one knee, requesting that all the wealth of the family be exchanged for a chance at keeping their lives.

“Perhaps you have misunderstood?”

To this day, Patriarch Dawson still remembered the King’s soft but shudder inducing voice.

“As long as the Dawson family ceases to exist in this world, won’t your wealth also belong to me?”

“Tell me your value, sir.” The King said slowly, “Something more valuable than directly possessing the wealth of the Dawson family.”

“I can convince someone for you.”

He thought for a while and then responded.

……………………

Rose Palace.

“They are even better than you said.” The King read the letter from the southeast and exclaimed, “It would be great if the sailors of the royal fleet could be as skilled as them.”

“That’s because you gave them the opportunity to perform, Your Majesty.”

The Duke of Buckingham replied.

On that day, the Duke of Buckingham mentioned the famous Walway pirates to the King——they were indeed notorious, but merchant ships of this era were willing to engage in piracy so long as they had the opportunity. The difference was that the Walway pirates were more conscientious in the profession of “pirates”.

To some extent, their reputation among the general population was even better than that of the Five Port Alliance.

Because the Walway pirates did not intercept and kill the common people.

——Although this was purely because the common people were too poor, they were not within the target range of such thieves.

The Duke of Buckingham asked whether the King could accept a pirate captain as his official.

The King who listened to the Duke of Buckingham’s story about the Walway pirates replied:

“As long as he can destroy the warships of the Five Port Alliance and protect the port from being damaged, even a pirate is eligible to serve as a naval general.”

The King knew exactly how capable the royal fleet was.

Even if the Five Port Alliance collapsed in the end, the royal fleet would still have to pay a huge price if it wanted to completely destroy these “Uncrowned Kings” who traversed the entire Abyss Strait all day long.

The pirates wandering on the harsh sea got a letter of appointment from the King and set off along the coast.

At the same time, the Dawson family, who had been silent the whole time, was instructed by the King to patrol the outer waterway of Koszoya.

The ship sent by the Ross family to transport the holy object was intercepted by them. Even if Patriarch Ross waited for another two weeks, he would still not be able to wait for reinforcements from the Holy Court.

When Patriarch Ross gathered all the remaining ships in the main port and prepared to stalemate with the King until the Holy Court arrived, an invisible blockade was quietly being pulled open on the sea.

The most brilliant part of the night battle was thought of by the pirate captain.

The King did not feel that he could beat the experienced navy governor-general or the notorious Walway pirate in this regard. He gave the governor-general of the royal navy enormous power——the battle plan was decided jointly by him and the pirate captain.

The King believed in the ability of the Walway pirates who were able to continuously escape from being hunted down, and at the same time believed in the loyalty of the navy governor-general who was one of the Royalists.

In this situation of inconvenient transportation and slow communication, if the King in the palace had to give out orders and intervene in the battlefield in the far southeast, there would be no good results.

So the King only did one thing.

He sent the two chemist brothers to the navy governor-general and the pirate captain.

The cooperation between the royal battleships and the pirates was originally incredible to the extreme, with the King adding two lunatic scientists into the mix…..

The situation became even more exciting.

The relationship between the Walway pirates and various ship merchants was terrible, and almost all chambers of commerce classified them as enemies. However, even in this case, they were still able to traverse freely and unrestrainedly at sea.

They were rogues but they were also crafty and cunning.

The speed of the pirate ships was faster than that of the royal fleet. After they arrived near Koszoya, they did not act directly. Instead, they waited for the arrival of the royal fleet while occasionally harassing the warships of the Five Port Alliance.

One of the purposes of harassment was to understand the main port’s power, and the other was to get in touch with Madam Poison Spider.

Madam Poison Spider, who was instigated by Patriarch Dawson, won the security and keeping guard duty, and it was she who concealed the news that the royal battleship had arrived in the nearby waters.

After getting in touch with Madam Poison Spider, the pirates passed the information to the royal fleet. The fleet then quietly approached Koszoya while the pirates pretended to arrogantly attack at night again. Finally, Patriarch Ross, who was frustrated by this, made a plan for the attack.

Madam Poison Spider managed to pass the plan to the pirates.

So these ruffians also came up with a brilliant plan.

——The pirates pretended to flee which led the main port battle fleet out of the port. Then they abandoned their pirate ships and used the iron chains when the ships on either side collided at the time of the battle to bog down the main port fleet in place. This was a bold plan, and no one could do it except for these rogues who were extremely skilled in the water.

Fortunately, they succeeded.

These unruly pirates proved to the King that they were indeed strong enough to get away with spitting on justice this whole time.

“God is the righteous judge, and what He lets loose are fiery arrows, which grants infringers with punishment…..Say, how do you think the Holy Court would react if they knew that their divine fire of punishment was used by mortals?”

The King looked through the battle report, and he seemed to be very interested in this question.

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

“Probably similar to the people’s reaction when they discover that the newly appointed admiral is a pirate.”

The Duke of Buckingham replied.

It was time for the King to see his general.

A pirate general.

After Becoming The Tyrant CH 041 Approaching Storm

TN: bonus chapter!💕

“The Ancient Holy Fire, it’s the Ancient Holy Fire.”

The Duke of Buckingham muttered to himself watching the fire burning on the ice lake. His pale hair was blown into flight by the wind, and his steel-blue eyes were a little moist at that moment.

“It’s been a thousand years.”

You c an fi nd t he la te st cha pte rs at ( th e bl mu se . c o m )

Why did the proud family of Rose bow to God for a whole thousand years?

They were clearly deranged psychopaths who dared to build a mortal palace in the heart of the dragon!

Everything was ultimately blamed on the “Battle of God’s Punishment”. Legrand’s battleship was burned under the hymns of the Holy Court, and mortals have since been marked as servants of God.

Legrand was almost destroyed by that battle.

Before the Battle of God’s Punishment, Legrand was a unified and powerful empire, and all the people surrendered where the emblem of the Rose family passed. When other countries were afraid of the power of the Holy Court, they could proudly refuse to accept the charity of God. Legrand’s warships could cross the seas——in that era, it was Legrand who launched expeditions against Bressi.

Nearly a thousand warships were burned on the sea, destroying Legrand’s most important military force. It was Legrand’s most elite knights who were buried in the flames with the three princes. After the “Battle of God’s Punishment”, the Legrand empire split and separated. Taking advantage of the Rose family at their most vulnerable, the lords of various places rebelled——behind them were surely the shadows of the Holy Court and other countries.

The empire fell apart overnight.

At the most tragic moment, the members of the Rose family used the palace as the last standing castle, and they fought for three days before the reinforcements from the north came.

In that kind of situation, being able to guard Legrand’s existence was already an incredible achievement.

The empire was divided.

There were many states, and the land of Legrand was swept into a long-lasting chaos.

“At that time, many people thought that the Rose family would gradually disappear after this, but we survived.” The Duke of Buckingham put his hand on the King’s shoulder, and at this moment, he was like the King’s father, slowly telling his child of the ancient history and grievances and then handing over the responsibility, “The Rose family guarded the throne…..using our blood, our bones.”

Overcome it, and then work hard to regain the past glory little by little.

Conquer the divided states little by little. At first, there were more than 100 states, and then gradually became less than 100, and then thirty-six. In the end, the initial reunification was completed under William III.

A whole thousand years of shame and bowing, a whole thousand years of accumulated strength.

“The end of the betrayer will finally come, and the Rose family will eventually regain its glory.”

The Duke of Buckingham slowly knelt down in front of the fire burning on the icy water. He touched his head close to Legrand’s ground, and the blood that had been dripped on the ground for generations dispersed their hot temperature.

The King stood behind him, quietly gazing at the gradually rising fire.

“In the future, it will be us who will rule the ocean.”

He accepted what was entrusted by the Duke of Buckingham.

Tooth for tooth, eye for eye, the Holy Court used this fire to burn the pride of the Rose family, so now they would also use new flames to burn the glory of God.

Eye for eye.

……………………

After the King and the Duke of Buckingham witnessed the ignition of the ancient holy fire in the hands of mortals, they also observed the research results of the two chemists——changing the gunpowder from powder form to granular form.

As the two chemists said, the power of gunpowder changed into granular form was much greater than before.

“It is still unable to break through the stone walls of the castle.”

The Duke of Buckingham pondered for a while and shook his head.

The King was not disappointed either: “But they are correct, aren’t they? As long as we find the right direction and go step by step, we will eventually be able to get what we want.”

“You are right. Your Majesty.” The Duke of Buckingham laughed. After seeing the Ancient Holy Fire, he relaxed a lot, like a cloud that had been suppressed in his heart was dispelled, and his expression became radiant, “It can’t be used now but in the future it is definitely possible. If you really want it to be able to exert its power on the battlefield, then you have to solve one problem…..”

“Fine, I know what you are going to say.”

The King sighed.

Saltpeter, saltpeter, that damn expensive saltpeter that needed to be imported…..and sulfur.

“I now feel that it is understandable that the Five Port Alliance often carry out piracy.” He had a headache, “Robbery is much cheaper than importing.”

“It seems that you already have an idea? Towards the Five Port Alliance.” The Duke of Buckingham asked.

“It is difficult for the main port to accept our regulations——the Free Trade Act leaves no way for them to survive.”

The King and the Duke of Buckingham returned to the Rose Palace together. As for the chemists, they had already left smiling with the research funds granted to them by the King.

“Therefore……”

The King paused.

“Kill them.”

The Duke of Buckingham was not surprised by this answer.

“Do you plan to start a war?”

“Yes.”

The King acknowledged.

This idea came after seeing the Ancient Holy Fire.

The King’s previous thoughts were more inclined towards dismantling the business foundation of the Five Port Alliance and forcing them to collapse in an invisible war. However, judging from the reaction of the patriarch of the Ross family during this period, this road still led to force in the end. It was just that the buffer period was longer.

But if they used the Ancient Holy Fire, things would be different.

“What do you plan to do?”

The Duke of Buckingham did not oppose the King’s decision.

“First mobilize the royal fleet…..After the remaining chambers of commerce withdraw from the Five Ports Alliance, the number of ships owned by the main port will be greatly reduced. The Port of Koszoya is the only place where they can hold guard against a siege, so arrange for ships to arrive nearby. Let the governor of customs in the southeast search their ships and arrest their merchant ships for smuggling wool.”

Having said this, the King smiled sardonically.

“They strictly forbid other chambers of commerce to engage in wool trading, but they carry out wool smuggling transactions by themselves…..Do they think the royal family is blind? Thanks to them, Legrand’s customs wool regulations are a laughing stock.”

“What if they refuse the search? Your Majesty.”

“That is treason.” The King replied coldly, “Any traitor shall be met with death.”

“I believe someone can help you.” The old Duke smiled.

……………………

The foreign aid mentioned by the Ross patriarch came from overseas.

The Holy See and the Holy See Empire that was directly controlled by the Holy See.

If analyzed carefully, the Five Port Alliance and the Holy See still had a certain relationship. Because the initial stage of the formation of the Five Port Alliance was established with the support of the local monastery. However, in the later period, the Mad King believed that the influence of the monastery was too great, so he withdrew their privileges and replaced it with the local nobles.

Some of the original monastery documents were also stored in the archives of the Five Port Alliance.

One of the files recorded that when the monastery controlled the port area, it had been trying its best to collect holy artifacts. But before they could complete the collection, the Mad King cancelled their privileges and even found an excuse to move them to another place.

There was such a holy artifact in the hands of the Ross family.

He was willing to take it out for the Five Port Alliance and serve it up to the Holy See in exchange for military assistance from the Holy See. However, the holy objects belonged to the Ross family before this, so he asked the other families——other than the Dawson family who remained silent so far——to advance and retreat with him.

“The Holy Court rarely dispatches their warships directly.”

The poisonous spider lady in a black dress still raised her doubts in an unhurried manner.

“The Pope’s special envoy landed at the port of Koszoya.” Patriarch Ross did not answer directly. Instead, he talked about the civil war initiated by Grand Duke Grice. “He is only twenty-seven years old, but he is already a cardinal, do you think this is normal?”

“Maybe he has excellent talents.”

“He is the Pope’s favorite illegitimate child.” The Ross patriarch mildly stated the taboo secret that no one dared to say, “His mother has a part of the Ross family blood.”

Everyone looked at the Ross patriarch in surprise.

Some clues were finally put together completely.

The person who connected Grand Duke Grice and the Holy Court…..was the Ross family.

They had a certain extent of blood relationship with the illegitimate son most favored by the Pope. They had taken refuge with Grand Duke Grice early. Only the Ross family could understand the needs of the Holy See and Grand Duke Grice at the same time, as well as build a bridge between them. If Grand Duke Grice really succeeded, then they would have won the gamble!

The Holy Court would not forget the contributions of the Ross family, nor would Grand Duke Grice forget their contributions.

An inexplicable chill slipped down everyone’s back.

How long had the Ross family plot and schemed?

This was definitely not just a decision made recently. It was very likely…..The Ross family must have stepped onto such a path when that cardinal was just born. Therefore, the Ross family in the Five Port Alliance would be the most unyielding to the royal family.

They were expressing their stance.

To the Holy Court, to Grand Duke Grice.

“The Holy Court influences the trade of the most important port on the Abyss Sea. Sanling Bay is known as the Pearl of the Abyss, a bridge between the various continents. As long as we can get the support of the Holy Court and rely on the entire Abyss Strait, no one can take away our things.” Patriarch Ross said in a deep voice, “Come, if you agree, we will form a true alliance.”

“When will the fleet arrive?”

Patriarch Nieus, whose emblem was the flamingo, asked in a deep voice.

“I have sent someone to deliver the holy artifact.” The Ross patriarch smiled coldly, “It should have been delivered to the Pope at this time, and the fleet will arrive in at least one week.”

“Alliance with the Ross family does not sound like a good idea.”

Madam Poison Spider sighed quietly.

“But who let me have no other choice.”

She stood up, her figure shrouded in black was slender and glamorous, and the lady who was well-known as a “femme-fatale” smiled slightly: “So be it.”

The Abyss Strait was shrouded in wind, and the waves rolled continuously.

The King’s governor was currently requesting a search of the Five Port Alliance’s merchant ships. The royal family’s fleet was also gathering quietly.

The storm was approaching.

After Becoming The Tyrant CH 040 Ancient Holy Fire

“Get the hell away! Don’t point the knife at me!”

As soon as the King and the Head of the Households arrived at the entrance of the Lunatic Academy of Sciences, which was blocked off by the Royal Guards, they heard the knight commander’s angry cursing coming from inside.

The Head of the Households looked at the King silently and solemnly.

“It seems that our geniuses are very motivated.” The King said casually, “I hope he will not really annoy our oath knight commander too awfully.”

In the Academy of Sciences, the knight commander who was wearing an exquisite iron armor looked at the anatomist vigilantly. A meticulous diagram of the human body structure was pinned to the wall, and on the experimental platform in front of the anatomist was a corpse that was forcibly covered with white cloth by the knight commander——probably to prevent the King from seeing this bloody scene.

The anatomist was holding a knife and gesturing at the knight commander, muttering words under his breath.

The knight commander’s hair stood on end, and he felt that he was probably not a living person in the other’s eyes, but a collection of bones and countless blood vessels…..

“Your Majesty.”

The knight commander saw the King who walked in and hurriedly saluted respectfully. There was a faint melancholy in his heart——he was happy to serve His Majesty even if he had to give up his life, it didn’t matter. But the King sent him to take care of these lunatics…..God! Could he ask His Majesty to change his job?

“Good work.”

The King nodded slightly to him.

The knight commander subconsciously straightened his spine, feeling extremely honored.

The Head of the Households patted him on the shoulder and silently encouraged him. For the sake of the holy lord, Mr. Knight Commander, please persevere and continue to fight with wits and courage against these lunatics.

“Alright, alright, Mr. Jacob, please stop your work for a while and also call over your companions.” The King clapped his hands in the hall.

As soon as the King’s voice fell, there was a loud noise from upstairs.

The Head of the Households immediately stepped forward and guarded the King behind him.

The knight commander skillfully drew out the long sword and rushed directly upstairs: “How many times have I warned you——”

“——No experimenting with gunpowder indoors!”

“No——even less than a pound is still absolutely not allowed!”

“I will throw you all into the snow!! You bastards!!!”

The roar of the knight commander echoed in the house.

The Head of the Households looked at the King.

“Alright then, my dear Mr. Head of the Households.” The King’s expression did not change at all. The chemist brothers still had some sense, and they didn’t really cause a big explosion. Of course, it is very likely that they could not cause any big explosions yet, “I will have them live in another house alone, okay?”

“One penny, they definitely burned their hair again.”

The architect, dressed neatly and tidily, with every hair perfectly combed, walked out of his room.

“It’s a gamble.”

The astrologer who just arrived took out his money.

The anatomist tried to join the gambling game as well, but the architect kept at least half a hall’s distance away from him at all times, so as not to get into a fight with this fellow who used the knife because of his own obsession with cleanliness.

In the chaos, the King saw all his “genius scientists”.

“Gentlemen, my Head of the Households has prepared a lot of oil for you. Can you tell me, does the stake at the door need to be used?” After the knight commander received the news that the King would be coming over, he had cleaned up the hall and placed out a long table with a few chairs. The King sat down at the table with his fingers pressed together and looked at his scientists with a smile.

“We think that the stakes look better when they are not turned into charcoal.”

The lunatics who caused the knight commander thunderous anger every day possessed an intuitive awe of the young king, and they constrained themselves in front of the King.

The anatomist was the first to speak. He proudly showed the King the human anatomy picture he nailed in the hall: “Your Majesty, I can already confirm that human blood is indeed circulating into the heart. Let the church idiots take their “natural aura” to see their holy lord! Blood circulation is determined by the structure and function of the heart itself! The human body itself is the greatest creation!”

This was why the King liked these “lunatics”.

The extreme pursuit of knowledge in a certain field made them sneer at the holy court.

Then the pharmacist walked forward with a diagram of his bacterial structure. He completed the task in cooperation with the doctor who tried to cut open the human skull with a knife. The two hit it off immediately, and the crazy thoughts collided into one place.

It was worth mentioning that the pharmacist’s research results also had the astrologer’s credit——the pharmacist grabbed the telescope used by the astrologer to observe the sky and transformed it into his own experimental instrument.

Although the microbial structure diagram was still very crude in the eyes of the King, it had already embarked on the right path.

After he saw it, he nodded slightly: “I will ask someone to build a suitable tool for you. Please don’t rob your companion next time, sir.”

The architect took out his handkerchief, wiped the table carefully, and then opened the box he brought out and spread a drawing in front of the King. After he was thrown into this place, the King sent a detailed map of a town——a commercial town on the southeast coast.

In addition to the drawing, the architect also had a thick document of explanation, indicating all the details involved and his calculation data.

The King turned the pages: “I will ask someone to evaluate it. Congratulations on your great success in advance.”

The results brought by the astrologer were very limited. But this could not be blamed on him, the survey of celestial bodies had always required a long time and complicated calculations. He looked pale-faced, thinking that his fate was inevitable, but the King became interested in one of the things he used to measure the angles of celestial bodies.

He perfected an ancient measuring tool “Gilson’s Rod”.

This was a tool for measuring the angular distance of celestial bodies conceived by geometric thinking, although it did not have the same optical characteristics as a nocturnal device. But it could measure the angle formed by the rays from any two stars at a certain point on the ground, so as to avoid errors caused by changes in the position of the ground reference object and the observer. [1]

“I hope you can continue to come up with something useful in the future.” The King said cordially, “However, in order to show respect for you, I will ask Mr. Head of the Households to keep the oil for you. If you fail to achieve anything in the future…..you know what you should do, don’t you?”

Among all the people, who the King had the greatest expectations for was undoubtedly the pair of chemist brothers who almost burned themselves to death again.

The knight commander fished them out of the room.

——Many thanks to the knight commander for his caution, he never allowed them to keep too much gunpowder in the laboratory.

The King turned his attention to the two chemist brothers who had just cleaned themselves up and looked particularly sorry looking without their hair.

In the 13th century, gunpowder began to appear in people’s sight. But for nearly three hundred years, gunpowder had not won much attention. Because of its high cost of production, its power was also very limited at this time. In order to carry out military reforms, the King asked the Duke of Buckingham about the current weapons situation in detail.

The answer he got was disappointing.

Nowadays, the gunpowder components that could be linked to “military use” were mainly saltpeter, sulfur, and charcoal. Among them, saltpeter accounted for as high as 66.5%-75% [2]. In this age, saltpeter and sulfur were very expensive. Whether it was Legrand or Bressi making gunpowder, they needed to be imported.

Of course, the most important thing was that the power of gunpowder was limited at this time.

The use of gunpowder on the battlefield was mainly to use stone throwers to launch “fireballs” and “flasks” made of gunpowder. There were also some attempted artillery pieces, but the artillery damage to one’s own people was comparable to that of the enemy under such limited technical conditions. [3] But for hard castles, they were just monsters that could make loud noises and create false bravado.

“We have changed gunpowder from powder to granular.” [4]

The older chemist brother answered concisely.

“Explain?”

“Can we give you a specific demonstration?” The younger chemist brother asked with excitement in his eyes.

“No, not possible.”

The Head of the Households’ heart stuttered and he rushed to answer loudly in front of the King. He didn’t bother to care about when these two gunpowder madmen would blow themselves up, but if the King even lost a single hair, he would jump into the river and kill himself.

“Don’t be so nervous.” The King looked amusedly at the Head of the Households who looked like he wanted to throw the chemists on the stake that instant. “Of course I won’t let them demonstrate here. I will ask Mr. Duke to come and observe as well.”

After all, he still needed to discuss with the old duke how powerful this new type of gunpowder could be in actual combat.

“Fine.”

The younger chemist brother was obviously a little disappointed. He had a soft spot for explosions.

“However, we accidentally recovered another thing in the experiment. Your Majesty may be interested in it.”

“Tell me.”

“Ancient Holy Fire.” [5]

The younger chemist brother replied.

The King sat up straight.

“I hope you are not joking.”

The King watched the two chemists and spoke slowly.

“Otherwise the stake will be a luxury for you in comparison.”

Ancient Holy Fire.

This was an unforgettable scar in the Rose family.

This was not an unfamiliar term. It used to be a weapon used by the Holy Court on the other side of the Abyss Strait to deal with Legrand.

In the fifth century AD, Legrand’s Black Death had subsided. The Rose royal family, who were dissatisfied with the control of the Holy Court, once launched an expedition to try to defeat the Holy Court and regain the supreme glory of the royal family.

So long as the church of the Holy Court was reduced to ashes, the light of faith spreading on the land of Legrand would naturally be extinguished.

At that time, Legrand sent a total of nearly a thousand ships. When they arrived at Sanling Bay where the Holy Court was, the battleships of the Holy Court appeared in front of the world for the first time. The white ships dispersed lightly on the sea, and the priests in white holy robes poured black liquid into the seawater.

Something incomprehensible to the Legrand people at that time occurred.

The fire raged on the sea, and with the help of the northeast wind at that time, it spread and swept across the nearly thousand Legrand ships.

The red fire raged on the sea, and the brave warriors fell to death before they even stepped onto the battlefield. They hollered and wanted to jump into the water to extinguish the fire on their bodies, but there was fire on the water. Black smoke floated into the sky like poisonous snakes, and the priests on the white battleship of the Holy Court sang an ancient carol.

“God is the righteous judge

And also a god who is angry with the wicked every day

………..

He also prepared equipment to kill

What He lets loose are fiery arrows.”

In this solemn hymn, Legrand’s warriors were reduced to ashes in the flames. The three princes of the Rose family who led the army were also buried in the sea of flames. They did something worthy of the glory of the Rose before they died. They endured the burning of the fire and drove their warships across the line of fire to each take down a holy ship with them.

However, nearly a thousand Legrand warships were still reduced to ashes in that war.

The Holy Court called the fire that burned on the sea the “Ancient Holy Fire.” That was the time when the Holy Court was at its most majestic. They established their position with that war and declared to the world that “God looks at the earth, and all those who did not comply shall receive the raging inferno of Judgement Day.”

Legrand suffered a great blow after that battle, and the Rose family had to suppress the anger and hatred in their hearts and accept the kingdom of God above their heads. Later generations of Rose family historians recorded that battle clearly, how many people were sacrificed, and how much shame Legrand suffered afterwards.

It was a scar that was still dripping with blood.

However, every crown prince of the Rose family would be repeatedly educated on that period of time since childhood.

The more pain, the more anger, and the more anger, the stronger one would be. It was under this pain that the Rose family survived the most difficult period, and only then was there the later glory of the later organizational structure of the Mad King, the expedition of the Lion King, and the reunification of 36 states by William III.

But this did not mean that others could use it as a joke.

There was no smile on the King’s face, his eyes were like winter glaciers and under the glaciers there was an untouchable abyss. His tone was still gentle, but these lunatics with keen senses all felt a terrible danger enveloping the hall.

“Yes, this is not a joke.”

The older chemist brother replied.

“We created the Ancient Holy Fire.”

He stood up straight and proud: “That’s not a holy flame that can only be used by a god. Mortals can also create it!”

The King looked at the chemist for a long time.

Finally, he smiled slowly and raised his hands to applaud the proud chemist.

“Congratulations, from now on, you are the dean of Legrand’s First Academy of Sciences.”

AN: This chapter is also called “The Tyrant and His Mad Scientists”

[1] The prototype is the “Jacob’s Rod”. According to records, it does have the function as stated in the text, which was mentioned in the writings of the Jewish-Spanish astronomer Levi Ben Gilson at the time. It was appreciated by Pope Clement VI at the time.

[2] The data comes from a compilation of Spanish-Arabic encyclopedia knowledge between 1275 and 1300. At that time, this was a gunpowder that had a strong explosive effect and could be used in the military.

[3] A very typical example, in 1460, King James II of Scotland died when his own cannon suddenly exploded during the siege of Roxburgh. The history of the military use of European artillery is actually the same as that of catapults for a long time. They are used to throw stone bombs into castles to destroy houses and churches, but they are not used to destroy city walls. The impact is very limited.

[4] The transformation of gunpowder from powder to granular is a very crucial part of the European gunpowder revolution and a key step in the reform of gunpowder technology. Related book “Competing for the Prosperity: Technology, Military and Society since 1000 AD” (United States) William H. McNeil

[5] The prototype is actually the Greek fire, which was used by the Byzantine army when fighting the Arabs in 678 AD. It can burn on the water.
